Downtown Employee Appreciation Day

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, ALL DAY

Do you work downtown? If so, join us for the first annual Downtown Nashville Employee Appreciation Day! Brought to you by the Nashville Downtown Partnership, this day celebrates all downtown employers and employees. Free breakfast, free coffee, free lunch, free ice cream, discounts, giveaways and MUCH more! Swing by the Fifth Third Center Plaza on Thursday to get "downtown bucks" - $1 off beer from 4 pm - 6 pm in Public Square, a downtown "happy hour" immediately proceeding Live on the Green. Events This Week

Live on the Green Outdoor Concert Series

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 6 PM - 10:30 PM
LOCATION: PUBLIC SQUARE PARK FREE

Enjoy live music outside in Public Square, located in front of the Metro Courthouse. For the second year, this free six-week concert series brings local and national artists to the stage. Blankets, folding chairs, strollers, and water bottles are welcomed. The line-up for Thursday, September 30:

Next Big Nashville presents
6:30 pm - Nataraja Yoga Company
7 pm - Garrison Starr
7:45 pm - Six Pence None the Richer
9 pm - Jars of Clay

VIP tickets available for $30. Tickets include beer, soft drinks, water, food, and an incredible view of the stage. Those with VIP passes will also get free admission to the Hard Rock After Party. Otherwise, the after party is $5 and is located in the Reverb Room at the Hard Rock Cafe. $3 parking available in the Public Square parking garage located directly below the park. Free bicycle parking.

 

Dinner on the Bridge

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 6 PM
LOCATION: SHELBY STREET PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE $150

The 4th Annual Dinner on the Bridge is a fundraising event benefiting Greenways for Nashville. This sit-down dinner will be catered by Kate's Fine Catering. Plus, live music from the Nashville Jazz Workshop. The mission of Greenways for Nashville is to create, develop, protect, preserve and promote greenways systems in Nashville.

 

FIT Fundraiser for Safe Haven Family Shelter

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 30
LOCATION: FIT NASHVILLE $5

Group fitness classes are just $5 all day on Thursday. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Safe Haven Family Shelter. Classes include Bodypump, Spin, Cardio Fusion, Killer X-Training, Krav Maga, Super Sculpt and Yoga.

 

Sunshine Party

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 5 PM - 7 PM
LOCATION: URBAN SUN FREE

The launch of "Rise and Shine with Urban Sun," a program that spotlights a local non-profit each month. Stop by to learn more about Habitat for Humanity and how to join Urban Sun's Sunshine Crew for a Habitat home build on Saturday, October 2. Customers who sign up to volunteer for Habitat or make a donation and those who purchase Music City Sol coffee will receive a free massage. Plus, specially priced tanning sessions and monthly packages available. Enjoy wine. appetizers from La Paz, and live music by Allisa Moreno. Parking validation is available.


12th Annual Walk Nashville Week

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 1 - FRIDAY, OCTOBER 8
LOCATION: NASHVILLE FARMERS' MARKET FREE

The 12th Annual Walk Nashville Week kicks off on October 1 at 11 am with remarks from Mayor Karl Dean and Metro Public Health Director Bill Paul, followed by the YMCA's monthly Nashville on the Move walk and a group Zumba class.

The events for the week include:
October 1 - Nashville on the Move/Walk Nashville Week Kick-off Event
October 3 - Walk to the Titans Game
October 4 - Walk Your Neighborhood
October 5 - Walk to Work
October 8 - Walk at Lunch

Free breakfast will be provided for Walk to Work participants on Tuesday, October 5 at the Music City Star Riverfront Station from 6:30 am - 9 am and at City Hall (at the 2nd Avenue N. and Union St. intersection) from 7:30 am - 9:30 am.


Bluegrass Fan Fest

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 1 - SUNDAY, OCTOBER 3, SCHEDULE VARIES EACH DAY
LOCATION: NASHVILLE CONVENTION CENTER $95 FOR A THREE-DAY PASS

First Saturday Art Crawl

6th Annual Cause for the Paws Benefit

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 2, 9 AM - 4 PM
LOCATION: PRINTERS ALLEY FREE

Pet adoptions, a silent auction, live music and food at this sixth annual fundraiser. Bid on celebrity-signed items and other goods and services in the silent auction. All proceeds benefit the animals at Metro Animal Care & Control. Well behaved, leashed pets are welcomed at this event!
 

Hire Path Education and Employment Fair

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 2, 10 AM - 4 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY FREE

Cumulus Nashville will host the Hire Path Education and Employment Fair. Attendees will have access to extensive education information and employment information. The fair will include companies looking for employees, staffing agencies, career counseling, resume writing information and more.
 

2010 Arts Festival

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 2 - SUNDAY, OCTOBER 17
LOCATION: FIRST BAPTIST NASHVILLE FREE

The Return of the Prodigal is the theme of the third annual First Baptist Nashville Arts Festival. The juried art exhibition and sale will be open to the public for two weeks. Opening night is Saturday, October 2 during the First Saturday Art Crawl. Gourmet coffee and biscotti will be served. Festival hours vary by day, check this website for all of the details. Free parking in the church parking lot will be provided throughout the festival.
