New Gallery - Suite 69! Suite 69. 69 Arcade. 479-5133. The newest art gallery in the Arcade. Open every First Saturday for the Art Crawl and by appointment.
Parking Meter Reminder! Beginning this Saturday, January 9 parking meters must be paid between 8 am and 6 pm. Meters are still free Monday - Saturday after 6 pm and all day on Sunday. Rates are $0.50 for 20 minutes of parking.
Events this Week
Wed, Jan 6 - Sun, Jan 10. Nashville Convention Center. 601 Commerce Street. Open on Wednesday and Thursday from 5 - 10 pm, Friday from noon - 10 pm, Saturday from 10 am - 10 pm, and Sunday 11 am - 5 pm. Daily admission $8. Shop for boats, fishing tackle, fishing lodges, charter companies and resorts, and marine accessories and services. Over 300 boats, including large yachts, houseboats, and fishing boats are on display.
5th Annual Sprint Sound & Speed Fan Festival Fri, Jan 8 - Sat, Jan 9. Ryman Auditorium and Municipal Auditorium. This event filled with Honky Tonk happy hours, fan festival and a concert brings together the stars of NASCAR and country music. Friday night's concerts at the Ryman feature Hank Williams, Jr., Vince Gill, Jason Michael Carroll, Danny Gokey, Chris Young, Kyle Petty and more. Two concerts with show times at 7 pm and 9:30 pm. Saturday's Fan Festival will be held at the Municipal Auditorium and features autographs and appearances by artists and race car drivers! Q&A sessions with artists and drivers, as well as story-telling sessions from legends of music and motorsports. Click here for ticket information.
Predators Family Four Pack Night Sat, Jan 9. Sommet Center. 501 Broadway. 770-PUCK. 7 pm. Enjoy Family Night as the Preds take on the Anaheim Ducks. Receive four tickets, four hot dogs and four soft drinks for $99! Click here for tickets.
Sat, Jan 9. Various locations. 6 - 9 pm. Free. Art galleries throughout downtown host receptions and art openings every month. Most galleries serve free wine and other refreshments. Three free shuttles provide transportation among the galleries from 6 pm to 10 pm. See the shuttle map and gallery listing here. Listings below include additional information about some of the openings. (Due to the New Year, this monthly event has been scheduled for the 2nd Saturday in January, instead of the 1st Saturday.) The galleries and shuttle buses will be warm and toasty despite the cold temps outside!
Sat, Jan 9. 535 4th Avenue South. 256-8302. 6 - 9 pm. Free. The gallery features art by the Lost Boys of Sudan including paintings, sculptures, ceramic masks, and pottery. New paintings by James Makuac will be on display this month. His work has been exhibited at the Frist Center. The Lost Boys Gallery is on the free shuttle route and also has plenty of free parking.

Art On 5th Sat, Jan 9. 219 5th Avenue North. 482-6118. 6 - 9 pm. Free. Exhibit features a variety of styles in portraiture including works in pencil, charcoal, oil, acrylic and paste. At the crawl, register to win one of four free portraits. The drawing will be held this month. Exhibit on display through January 31.
