NEWS & INFORMATION:

 

New Restaurant! Ivy Southern Tradition opened in December in the old Dairy Queen location (212 4th Avenue North, 256-8444). This "meat & three" also has several sandwiches and salads to choose from. They are open from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday - Friday.
 

Gallery Drawing Series: The Frist Center for the Visual Arts will host a drawing workshop on Saturday, January 11 from 10:00 a.m. to noon in the Roberts Orientation Gallery. Under the guidance of artist/instructor Terry Thacker, participants will study the methods of the master artists represented in the Tate Collections, and Rubens, Jordaens, Van Dyck and their Circle: Flemish Master Drawings as they work in the galleries incorporating the masters’ techniques into their own drawings. Nashville Boat and Sport Show: The Nashville Convention Center hosts a show of a variety of boats and marine products, vacation ideas, fishing seminars and entertainment. The show runs from Wednesday, January 8 to Sunday, January 12. Tickets are $7 for adults and $2 for children. Visit www.discoverboating.com for more information.


UPCOMING EVENTS:

 

Community Workshop: The entire downtown community (employees, business owners, residents, etc.) is invited to attend a workshop about the Plan of Nashville on Thursday, January 23 from from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Nashville Civic Design Center (700 Church Street, 248-4280). Input from downtown stakeholders is vital to this community-wide plan. The workshop format is interesting, lively and informal. Stop by for a light lunch (compliments of the Nashville Downtown Partnership) and voice your opinions on issues impacting downtown.

 

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

 

Frist Center: Information sessions for those interested in volunteering at the art-exhibition facility can attend a session on Saturday, January 11 at 11:00 a.m. at the Frist Center (919 Broadway). To register for the program call 744-3349.
