Events this Week
Thurs, Feb 5 - Sun, Feb 8. Nashville Convention Center. 601 Commerce Street. 352-1282. $12 per day or $30 for a 4-day pass. Hours are Thurs 10 am - 7 pm, Fri 10 am - 8 pm, Sat 10 am - 7 pm and Sun, 11 am - 5 pm. Featuring over 150 international and domestic dealers exhibiting porcelain, silver, oriental rugs, jewelry, paintings, furniture and more. Additionally, horticulture booths featuring architectural elements for the home and the garden.
Thurs, Feb 5. B.B. King's Blues Club & Restaurant. 152 2nd Avenue North. 256-2727. 7 pm. $10 in advance, $15 at the door. Jason Eskridge will perform. Concert series continues every February in Thursday. Damian Horne will perform February 12, Thomas Cain on February 19 and Tommy Sims on February 26.

Baeder on Baeder: Dishing on Diners Sat, Feb 7. Tennessee State Museum. 505 Deaderick Street. 741-2692. 3 pm. Free. A film screening of the new documentary "Pleasant Journeys and Good Eats along the Way" which follows John Baeder's artistic journey. The screening will be followed by a question and answer session with Baeder and filmaker Curt Hahn. John Baeder's exhibition with the same name is currently on display at the museum. Additionally, the State Museum will be open from 6 - 9 pm for the First Saturday Gallery Crawl.
Sat, Feb 7. Various locations. 6 - 9 pm. Free. Art galleries throughout downtown host receptions and art openings on the first Saturday of every month. Most galleries serve free wine and other refreshments. Two free shuttles provide transportation among the galleries from 6 pm to 10 pm. See the shuttle map and gallery listing here. "The Holiday: An Escape into the Everyday" features photographs by Elizabeth Streight and Sarah Hearld. Hearld will show photographs of street children in Delhi, India. Streight's works explore her own immediate American environment. Exhibit on display through February 28.

Middle Tennessee contemporary artists; Lori Anne Parker, Olga Alexeeva, John Newman, Susan Saruda, and Caroline Allison will host open studios every first Saturday beginning February 7 from 6 - 9 pm.
Zeitgeist at Terrazzo Sat, Feb 7. Terrazzo. 700 12th Avenue South. 256-4805. 5 – 9 pm. Free. Opening reception in three galleries on the 5th floor. Zeitgeist presents a five-month series of "Art in Open Spaces at Terrazzo." This first exhibit, "Outside.In" explores nature in an urban setting and features artists Jim Ann Howard, Terry Rowlett, Greg Pond, Hans Schmitt-Matzen, Megan Lightell, Gene Wilken, and Richard Painter. On display through February 28. Free parking, Division Street entrance. Stop by on your way to the galleries on 5th and 8th Avenues since this exhibit opens one hour earlier.
