Movie Screening and Reception

Wed, Feb 11. Main Library. 615 Church Street. 862-5800. 5:15 pm. Free. A screening of Arusi Persian Wedding, a documentary by Iranian-American director Marjan Tehrani. The film from PBS' Independent Lens chronicles the return of the filmmaker's brother to Iran with his new American wife for a traditional Persian wedding ceremony. Reception features food from House of Kabob. The film screening begins at 6 pm, followed by a  panel discussion. RSVP to rsvp@wnpt.net.

 

Earth Hour Kickoff Event

Thurs, Feb 12. The Stage on Broadway. 412 Broadway. 259-4000. 11 am. Free. Nashville's skyline will go dark for one hour on March 28 in honor of Earth Hour 2009. Nashville Symphony Orchestra League's 2nd Annual Pictionary Tournament

Thurs, Feb 12. Schermerhorn Symphony Center. One Symphony Place. 687-6541. 6:30 pm - 10 pm. Teams of four will have seven opportunities to average their best time and enter the tournament. An annual Orchestra League membership is $50 per person and includes entrance in the Pictionary tournament. Enjoy complimentary hors d'oeuvres and wine. The tournament's grand prize is box seats for eight at a SunTrust Classical Series Concert in the 2009/10 season, plus dinner at Arpeggio.

 

Cleveland Museum of Art Curator Discusses Medieval Treasures Exhibition
Fri, Feb 13. Frist Center for the Visual Arts. 6:30 pm. Free. Stephen Fliegel, curator of medieval art at the Cleveland Museum of Art will discuss the Cleveland Museum of Art's medieval collection. Dr. Fliegel will examine sublime sculptures, painted altarpieces, illuminated manuscripts and more. Two exhibits open to the public on Friday: Medieval Treasures from the Cleveland Museum of Art and Mike Holbloom: Imitations of Life. Both exhibits run through June 7.
