Merchants' Meeting Thurs, Mar 27. Sommet Center. 3 pm. Free. This DISTRICT's monthly merchants' meeting is hosted by the Nashville Predators. Enter the Sommet Center on 5th Avenue under the black canopy to get to the meeting.

"Aaron Douglas in Perspective" Lecture Thurs, Mar 27. Frist Center for the Visual Arts. 919 Broadway. 244-3340. 6:30 pm. In conjunction with the current exhibition Aaron Douglas: African American Modernist, artist, scholar and curator Dr. David Driskell will speak about his personal relationship with Douglas and discuss selected aspects of his work.
Sons of Lwala: A Documentary Preview Thurs, Mar 27. TPAC's Jackson Hall. 505 Deaderick. 255-2787. 7:30 pm. $30 - $100. The first public showing of the documentary, Sons of Lwala. A film about Vanderbilt University medical students Milton and Fred Ochieng' on their inspiring journey to open a clinic in their home village of Lwala, Kenya. Special guests include former Senator Bill Frist, M.D., Jars of Clay, Fred Ochieng' and Milton Ochieng'.

Family Tradition: The Williams Family Legacy presents an intimate, behind-the-scenes portrait of a great American musical dynasty. Curators' exhibit tour at 1 pm.
Public Art Installation Opening Reception Fri, Mar 28. The Arcade. 5 - 8 pm. Free. "ArtWeb," a series of bronze wire, copper tubing and paper sculptures by Kaaren Hirschowitz Engel, is suspended from the second floor balcony of the Arcade.
RENT at TPAC Fri, Mar 28 - Sun, Mar 30. TPAC's Jackson Hall. 505 Deaderick. 255-2787. Performance times vary. $20 - $66. The Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winning Broadway musical Rent comes to TPAC for five performances. Following the tradition of New York's show, TPAC will offer $20 tickets for the first two rows. These tickets will be sold on a lottery basis at TPAC's Jackson Hall Box Office, on the day of the performance only. Anyone interested should come to the box office two hours before curtain. The drawing of the winning tickets will take place 90 minutes prior to the show. These tickets may be purchased with cash only and are limited to two tickets per person.
