Nashville Scene's Iron Fork

Wed, May 6. Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. 385-3723. 6 pm - 10 pm. $40. The Scene's annual showdown featuring five chefs and one secret ingredient (similar to the Food Network's "Iron Chef"). Watch the chefs compete and enjoy samplings from local restaurants and the Blue Moon beer garden. Proceeds benefit St. Luke's Community House.

 

Darwin in Mailbu

Now through Sat, May 16. TPAC's Johnson Theater. 255-ARTS. Performance times vary. $11.50 - $41.50. Tennessee Repertory Theatre presents this British comedy about God, science and plastic surgery.

 

National Day of Prayer Downtown Expression

Thurs, May 7. Sommet Center Plaza. 501 Broadway. 11:30 am - 12:30 pm. Free. Prayers will be led by a community, business, church YMCA and civic leaders, including Mayor Karl Dean. Special performance by Ricky Skaggs.

 

Downtown Code Community Meeting

Thurs, May 7. Main Library. 615 Church Street. 6 pm. Metro Planning staff will discuss the draft document and receive feedback. An additional meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 13 at 3 pm. The same presentation will be given at both meetings.

 

11th Annual O'More College of Design Student Fashion Show

Thurs, May 7. TPAC's James K. Polk Theater. 7:30 pm. $18 - $36. Student fashion show featuring collections by seniors and designs by underclassmen. Students play a major role in producing the event, and are involved in every detail from promotion to production.

 

Art Tour with Alan LeQuire
Sat, May 9. Main Library. 615 Church Street. 862-5800. 10:30 am. Free. Sculptor Alan LeQuire designed the bronze panels that decorate the stately front doors of the downtown library and bronze portrait heads for the current "Cultural Heroes" exhibit in the library's Art Gallery. The artist will conduct a tour of his artwork at the library.

 

Nashville N2 Art
