Nashville's restaurant community including tayst, Miel, Mambu, Mirror, The Standard, Monell's, Chappy's on Church, City House, Ombi, Eastland Cafe, Yellow Porch, Zola, Tin Angel, Miro District, Marché and additional independent restaurants and farms will serve bite-sized portions of their fare. Tastings will include the restaurants' signature appetizers, entrees and desserts. Plus, fine wines and beers from participating beverage distributors. The event benefits Nashville's Table, the perishable food rescue program of Second Harvest Food Bank.

Ending his successful term as the Nashville Symphony's Music Advisor, conductor Leonard Slatkin will lead the orchestra in one of classical music's most celebrated works – Beethoven's Symphony No. 9.
Fri, May 29. Frist Center for the Visual Arts. 919 Broadway. 244-3340. 6-9 pm. The popular summer concert series begins this Friday. Danielle Peck will perform in the courtyard. Light appetizers are provided and there is a cash bar. No admission charge for members, and non-members pay $8.50. Admission includes entrance to the current exhibits. Additional dates are June 26 and July 31.

Chili Cook-Off at Riverfront Tavern Sat, May 30. Riverfront Tavern. 101 Church Street. 252-4849. 3 pm. $10 entry fee for competitors, free for spectators. Bring a batch of chili in a crock pot or slow cooker. Sign up early or register the day of the competition. First place finisher receives a $300 Visa Card, second place receives $50 and a Yuengling gift pack, and third place receives $25 and a Yuengling gift pack. Yazoo and Yuengling beer specials.
Disco Inferno Share Our Strength's A Tasteful Pursuit Sun, May 31. The Hermitage Hotel's Grand Ballroom. 231 6th Avenue North. 888-273-6141. 6 pm. $95. The Hermitage Hotel hosts A Tasteful Pursuit, part of Share Our Strength's dinner series featuring renowned chefs around the country. The night includes a cocktail reception, silent auction, and a multi-course dinner with wine pairings. The Capitol Grille's executive chef Tyler Brown and pastry chef Andrew Manchester will be joined by guest chefs, including former executive chef Sean Brock, visiting from McCrady's Restaurant in Charleston, and Nashville chefs: Eastland Café's Hal Holden-Bache, Red Pony's Jason McConnell, Zola's Debra Paquette and City House's Tandy Wilson. The event benefits Share Our Strength's program to end childhood hunger.
