Fri, July 31. Frist Center for the Visual Arts. 919 Broadway. 244-3340. 6-9 pm. The conclusion of this year's popular summer concert series. Super T will perform in the courtyard. Light appetizers are provided and there is a cash bar. No admission charge for members, and non-members pay $8.50. Admission includes entrance to the Frist's current exhibits.
Sat, Aug 1. Farmers' Market. 900 Rosa L. Parks Boulevard. 880-2001. 10 am. Free. Nashville's biggest tomato tasting, with an array of locally grown heirloom tomatoes ready for you to try and decide which is best. Live music, cooking demos and more.
Sat, Aug 1. Main Library. 615 Church Street. 862-5800. 1 pm - 4 pm. Free. Join the Nashville Shakespeare Festival to read from the works of William Shakespeare, specifically King John. All voices, ages and dialects are welcome. Listeners are also encouraged.
Sat, Aug 1. Various locations. 6 - 9 pm. Free. Art galleries throughout downtown host receptions and art openings every month. Most galleries serve free wine and other refreshments. Two free shuttles provide transportation among the galleries from 6 pm to 10 pm. See the shuttle map and gallery listing here. The 12th annual sale features art books, artwork, props, furniture, decor and more items fresh from the gallery archives. New this year, The Art Exchange will include artwork from collections and estates. The sale and exchange will continue through August 22.
