The newest edition of The Guidebook, our downtown retail, restaurant and amenity resource book is available. If your downtown business would like 40 or more books delivered to your location, please let us know.
Events this Week
Fri - Sat, Aug 28 - 29. Riverfront Park. 732-9910. Hours: 5 pm - 11 pm (Friday) and 11 am - 11 pm (Saturday). $10 for a one-day ticket, $15 for a two-day pass, children under 11 get in free. Over 70 professional cook teams will compete in this inaugural barbeque festival, with $16,000 in prizes to winning teams. The weekend festivities include great food, family friendly activities, and live music featuring local musicians and songwriters on the Riverfront stage. Click here for the complete music line-up. A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit the Shriners Hospitals for Children and the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. Tickets will be sold at the gate and online.
Please note the following road closures associated with this festival! 1st Avenue from Gay Street to Molloy; Broadway from 1st to 2nd Avenues. These roads will be closed from Thursday, August 27 at 8 am until Sunday, August 30 at 5 pm.
Sat, Aug 29. Farmers' Market. 900 Rosa L. Parks Boulevard. 880-2001. 11 am - 2 pm. Free. Nashville's biggest tomato tasting, with an array of locally grown heirloom tomatoes ready for you to decide which is best. Live music, cooking demos and more. Bring your homegrown "ugliest tomatoes" and enter to win a Market gift pack. Tomatoes must be entered by 1 pm.
Sat, Aug 29. Renaissance Nashville Hotel. 611 Commerce Street. 327-9779. 5 pm. $150. Former President Bill Clinton is the keynote speaker at the Tennessee Democratic Party's annual fundraiser, Jackson Day.
Keith Urban and Sugarland in Concert Sat, Aug 29. Sommet Center. 501 Broadway. 7:30 pm. $20 - $82. Two of country music's most popular acts perform on Saturday at the Sommet Center.
Tues, Sept 1. Main Library, Courtyard. 615 Church Street. 862-5800. 11:45 am - 12:45 pm. Free. Bring a lunch to the library courtyard and enjoy a concert every Tuesday through October 6. R&B and Blues artist Nick Nixon will perform on September 1.
Bus Rapid Transit, Relax & Ride, and Express Routes Transportation Discussion Mon, Aug 31. Music City Central Community Room. 400 Charlotte Avenue. 11 am - 1 pm and 4 pm - 6 pm. Free. MTA and RTA will host this public hearing to discuss potential public transportation improvements including a new express route in the Franklin/Brentwood and Thompson Station areas, Bus Rapid Transit along Gallatin Road, additional trips on Route 96X Nashville/Murfreesboro and more. Participants may attend either the 11 am or the 4 pm session. Or email comments about these potential improvements to mta.publichearings@nashville.gov.
