New hotel: Hotel 315! 315 Union. 891-6001. Downtown Nashville's newest hotel. An impressive rehab of the old American Trust building. 87 rooms and 18 extended stay suites. Great rate specials through the end of December: $89 weeknights and $99 weekends (with a few exceptions including the Music City Bowl and New Year's Eve).
New restaurant: Christie Cafe! Inside the downtown YMCA. 1000 Church Street. 401-7169. Serving smoothies, sandwiches, salads, soup, espresso, breakfast sandwiches, bagels, and more. Hours are Mon - Fri, 7:30 am - 3:30 pm.
New store: Dolly's Trinkets & Treasures! 126 2nd Avenue North. 248-1033. This new store features everything Dolly Parton from music to clothing to DVDs, plus a full array of Nashville-branded gifts. Hours are Mon - Thurs, 10 am - 6 pm; Fri - Sat, 10 am - 8 pm; and Sun, noon - 6 pm.
New art gallery: O Gallery! 42 Arcade. 416-2537. The newest art gallery in the Arcade. Hours are first Saturdays from 6 pm - 9 pm and by appointment.
New salon: Cashmere Salonspa! 604 12th Avenue South (The ICON). 770-3065. This full service salon offers haircuts, color, straightening, and extensions, plus pedicures, manicures, facials, waxing, and more! Hours are Mon - Fri, 9 am - 7 pm; Sat, 9 am - 4 pm; and Sun, 1 pm - 5 pm.

Efficient Fitness presents two sessions of a free lunchtime outdoor boot camp with personal trainer Kristin Calpino. Dress for outside exercise. This is a preview of a paid boot camp that will be offered in 2010.

Set in 1897 in Nashville, when the Parthenon was just erected and cotton candy was becoming all the rage.

Keyboards at Christmas
Tues, Dec 15. First Baptist Nashville. 108 7th Avenue South. 664-6000. Concerts at 11 am and 12:30 pm. The 23rd annual Merry TubaChristmas concert features Christmas carols played by a mass choir of over 100 tuba players (ranging from school-age children to professional players). The concerts are free. But, donations will be collected to benefit the Wednesday lunches for the Homeless that Downtown Presbyterian Church provides.
The DISTRICT's Holiday Contest Winners! Congratulations to the winners of The DISTRICT's annual holiday decorations contest. Grayline Tours took 1st place for the decoration of their "Santa Express" trolley on 2nd Avenue, McFadden's Restaurant and Saloon won 2nd place, Butler's Run on 2nd Avenue placed 3rd and Tootsie's Orchid Lounge on Broadway earned honorable mention. Come out downtown and enjoy all of the beautiful holiday decorations!
