New Fitness Center - FIT Nashville! 125 12th Avenue S. 712-7340. This gym features personal training, group fitness classes and memberships at a variety of price ranges. Hours are Mon - Thurs, 6:00 am - 8:00 pm; Fri, 6:00 am - 7:00 pm; and Sat - Sun, 7:00 am - noon.
Events this Week
6th Annual Artist-in-Residence with Jerry Douglas Wed, Aug 27. Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. 416-2001. $30. Musician, composer, and producer Jerry Douglas is the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum's 2008 Artist-in-Residence. Along with very special guests who have recorded with him, Douglas will serve as host and curator for this evening of music in the Ford Theatre. Additional performances on September 16 and 30.
Urban Sun Customer Appreciation Party Thurs, Aug 28. Urban Sun. 209 10th Avenue South #227. 291-6800. Free. Customer appreciation party featuring refreshments and special discounts all day. Memberships as low as $14.95/month with no contracts and no fees.
Fri, Aug 29. Frist Center for the Visual Arts. 919 Broadway. 244-3340. 6-9 pm. The popular concert series continues. Red Beet Records night featuring Last Train Home, Peter Cooper and Fayssoux McLean all performing in the courtyard. Light appetizers are provided and there is a cash bar. No admission charge for members, and non-members pay $8.50. Admission includes entrance to the current exhibits. Additional dates are September 26 and October 31.
Sun, Aug 31. Riverfront Park. 255-9600. Music from 2 - 10 pm. $20. Music City J.A.M. (Jazz And More) will fill Riverfront Park with music by blues, jazz, and R&B artists. Performers include Peter Frampton, Melinda Doolittle, Kirk Whalum and more! A portion of the proceeds will benefit Music City, Inc. and The Museum of African American Music, Art & Culture.
