The Nashville Downtown Partnership has conducted a downtown business census survey in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008. Five years of data has yielded information to help us plan our budget and objectives for the upcoming year.

Highlights from the 2008 report include:

• 46,198 downtown employees
• 1,398 business entities
• Panhandlers/Transients, Cost/Availability of Parking, and Retail Variety top the list of factors that need the most improvement
• 89% of businesses report that their business has "improved" or "stayed the same" over the past two years
• Plus, the Top 10 downtown employers, public space data, demographics and much more
