Tennessee Repertory Theatre presents The 39 Steps

NOW THROUGH SATURDAY, APRIL 2; SHOW TIMES VARY BY DATE

This show is a mix of an Alfred Hitchcock masterpiece, a gripping spy novel, and a bit of Monty Python. It is a fast-paced "whodunit" that showcases the best of theatre.


Celebrating 20 Years of Live Music

Music City BBQ Festival: Night with the Predators

THURSDAY, MARCH 24, 4:30 PM
LOCATION: BRIDGESTONE ARENA PLAZA PARTY: FREE; GAME: $20 - $40

Before the Nashville Predators take on the Anaheim Ducks, the Bridgestone Arena Plaza will be filled with live music, beer, and free BBQ samples starting at 4:30 pm. SWA's 25th Nashville Anniversary Celebration

Southwest Airlines will celebrate its 25th anniversary of service to Nashville on March 15. Show Southwest some LUV at the celebration on the plaza of Bridgestone Arena. Free food, music and prizes - including Southwest Airlines tickets. Speakers include Mayor Dean and representatives from Southwest.


5th Annual BACHanalia

FRIDAY, MARCH 25, 5 PM - 11 PM
LOCATION: CHRIST CHURCH CATHEDRAL FREE

Christ Church Cathedral is celebrating the genius of Johann Sebastian Bach in the fifth annual BACHanalia, a six-hour marathon music festival. Music begins at 5 pm and continues non-stop until 11 pm. BACHanalia is a gift to the Nashville community from nearly 100 of Nashville's finest musicians. They will perform a wide variety of Bach's masterpieces in expected and unexpected ways – everything from harp to marimba, organ to voice, jazz ensembles to harpsichord, and sonatas to sarabandes will delight the ear. Studio musicians, Nashville Symphony musicians, university faculty and students, and church musicians all contribute to this festive musical evening.

 

Nashville Cherry Blossom Walk

SATURDAY, MARCH 26, 9 AM
LOCATION: PUBLIC SQUARE PARK FREE

Led by Mayor Karl Dean and Consul General of Japan Hiroshi Sato, the Cherry Blossom Walk's 2.5 mile course begins and ends in Public Square. Commemorative t-shirts, food and drinks will be available. No registration required. Cherry blossoms, or sakura, have been a symbol of the U.S.-Japan friendship since the Mayor of Tokyo donated 3,000 cherry trees to Washington, D.C. in 1912.

 

Cherry Blossom Japan Relief Event

The 3rd Annual Nashville Cherry Blossom Festival is a family-friendly celebration of Japanese culture. Events, entertainment, and activities include taiko drumming, traditional Japanese tea ceremony, origami, martial arts demonstrations, Japanese food booths and more. Cherry Blossom Festivals are celebrated every spring all over the U.S. Due to the recent tsunami and related earthquakes, this year's festival will also be a relief effort to support the victims in Japan.

Free Family Day

This Family Day at the Frist is all about India: explore the rich traditions of art making and storytelling that are inspired by the exhibition Vishnu: Hinduism’s Blue-Skinned Savior. Visit Hindu Home Shrines: Creating Space for Personal Contemplation and learn about the daily devotional practices of members of our local Hindu community.


U.S. National Soccer Team vs. Paraguay

TUESDAY, MARCH 29, 7 PM
LOCATION: LP FIELD $20 - $150

The U.S. men's national soccer team is set to play Paraguay at LP Field on March 29, marking the fourth time in the last five years the U.S. team has visited the city. The contest is considered a friendly match, so it will not count toward qualifying for any future tournament. Both countries plan to use the match to evaluate talent in preparation for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Stylist for A Day

TUESDAY, MARCH 29 - THURSDAY, MARCH 31
LOCATION: FIRE FINCH

In honor of Nashville Fashion week, Fire Finch is hosting a "be a stylist for a day" contest. Visit their store on Tuesday, March 29, Wednesday, March 30, or Thursday, March 31 and style a look using Fire Finch merchandise. The staff will take your picture wearing that look and upload it to their Facebook page. The person who receives the most "likes" will win a $25 gift certificate to Fire Finch.


Bridges Benefit Dinner

Our 8th Annual Downtown Home Tour is Sunday, April 17. Over 100 volunteers are needed. Duties include checking tickets and guiding attendees to the units on display. Volunteers receive a FREE tour ticket ($10 value) and t-shirt.

Volunteer shifts are as follows:
A: 11:30 am - 2:00 pm
B: 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm
C: 3:45 pm - 6:15 pm
