Nashville Fashion Week

WEDNESDAY MARCH 30 - SATURDAY, APRIL 2

Lexus Nashville Fashion Week is a city-wide celebration of Nashville's thriving fashion and retail community and its vast array of creative talent—featuring local, regional and national design talent in fashion events and shows. Explore the city's diverse fashion and retail spaces throughout the week with promotions, partnerships and educational workshops.

Harpsichord Concert: Trevor Pinnock

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 30, 5 PM - 11 PM
LOCATION: CHRIST CHURCH CATHEDRAL $20 - $25

Trevor Pinnock performs a rare solo harpsichord concert. Pinnock is known worldwide as a pioneer of early music performance on historical instruments as conductor of The English Concert, the orchestra he founded in 1972 and led for the next thirty years. This concert is one of only four US performances by Pinnock this year, and his only appearance in the Southeast.

 

Collectors Art Night

FRIDAY, APRIL 1, 5:30 PM - 8 PM

The event is a special first-look preview of the impressive new exhibitions at The Arts Company, The Rymer Gallery, and Tinney Contemporary. Appetizers from Virago and cocktails will be served at 5:30 pm. The program will feature three art talks with photographer Drew Doggett at The Arts Company at 6 pm, painter Luke Hillestad at The Rymer Gallery at 6:45 pm, and painter Patricia Bellan-Gillen at Tinney Contemporary at 7:15 pm. 2011 Wine Festival and Tasting

FRIDAY, APRIL 1, 6 PM - 10 PM
LOCATION: BRIDGESTONE ARENA $75 GENERAL; $200 VIP DINNER

The 2011 Wine Festival and Tasting to Benefit the Nashville Predators Foundation will feature wine tastings and heavy hors d'oeuvres that will be served over the ice at Bridgestone Arena. The VIP Dinner and Tasting includes a 5-course dinner and wine pairing in the Patron Platinum Club, featuring hand crafted wines from Francis Coppola Winery. To register, click here.


7th Annual ArtisTree Art Show

FRIDAY, APRIL 1 - SATURDAY, APRIL 2, 6 PM - 9 PM

The 7th annual ArtisTree will feature art from local painters, photographers and fashion photographers on Friday and on Saturday for the First Saturday Art Crawl. A percentage of all art sales will benefit the Tomorrow Fund and its grant making to support programs for children in the Nashville area. Artists include Quinn Ballard, Casey Brooks, Margaret Elliott, Elizabeth Foster, Sarah B. Gilliam, Michael Howard, Julia Martin, Eli McFadden, Trevor Mikula, Amanda Norman, Heidi Schwartz, Amanda Sears, and Wee Seing. This year's event is presented in association with the inaugural Nashville Fashion Week.


 

Walk 100 Miles: Bicentennial Mall

SATURDAY, APRIL 2, 11 AM
LOCATION: BICENTENNIAL MALL FREE

Join Mayor Karl Dean in his campaign to get Nashville moving. The walk scheduled this Saturday in Bicentennial Mall is the kickoff walk for "Walk 100 Miles with the Mayor." The 1.5 mile walk begins at 11 am in the amphitheater. Register now and pledge to walk 100 miles over the next three months!

 

First Saturday Art Pre-Crawl

SATURDAY, APRIL 2, 5 PM - 7 PM
LOCATION: ZEITLIN INTOWN FREE

Art opening featuring works by Betty Wentworth. Hors d'oeurves provided by Sambuca. Wine provided by Windmill Title. Live music by Sydney Grigg and Clay Evans. Stop by this party before heading to the First Saturday Art Crawl.

Goodnight Moon

In the great green room, there was a telephone, and a red balloon, and a picture of the cow jumping over the moon ... How do you turn one of America’s most beloved picture books ever into a play? The playwright has brought an extraordinary imagination to the task, and has created a sparkling, magical musical that both elaborates on the original with style and wit, yet remains true to the simple heart of the book. The last weekend to check out this play at the NCT.

The Jump Smokers remixes keep you on the dance floor every weekend at Mai ... now come see them perform/DJ LIVE! Jump Smokers are Roman, V-Skratch, Reydon and Johnny Digital. The ‘Jump Smokers Sound’ will make you dance, rock, shake and pop (and very likely at the same time). The Chicago based crew have created dance club anthems that have led industry insiders to nickname them the "Kings of the dance floor."
 

Scottish Heritage Festival

SATURDAY, APRIL 2, 10 AM - 4 PM

A full day of fun for the whole family. Activities and entertainment include pipe bands, heraldry, tartans, crafts, a scavenger hunt, and highland and country dancing.


Portara Ensemble Elements of Life Concert

MONDAY, APRIL 4, 7:30 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH ELCA FREE

Portara Ensemble, The Gateway to Music and Art, will perform a free choral concert featuring the music of Lauridsen, Rutter, local composer Jason Shelton, and more. This multi-genre event with the theme Elements of Life: Wind, Water, Fire, Earth will include an art show by local high school students and a painting by local artist Bill Neill.


Urban Design Forum: A Baseball Stadium for Nashville

TUESDAY, APRIL 5, 5:30 PM - 7 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE CIVIC DESIGN CENTER FREE

Students from the University of Tennessee College of Architecture + Design, led by professor and former Nashville Civic Design Center Design Director Mark Schimmenti, conducted a study of the Sulphur Dell and North Gulch areas as possible sites for a new baseball stadium for the Nashville Sounds. Join Mark for a "gallery talk" about the design studio process, and the projects that evolved.
