Mama's Gotta Sing

THURSDAY, APRIL 7, 7 PM - 8:30 PM
LOCATION: 3RD AND LINDSLEY $15 SUGGESTED DONATION

A concert series to benefit young women who age out of the foster care system in Davidson and Rutherford counties. Performances by Lisa Brokop, Paul Jefferson, and Porter Howell. The show will be hosted by Sherrie Phillips and Stephanie Urbina Jones. All proceeds benefit Hope Restoration Ministries.


The Art of Beer

THURSDAY, APRIL 7, 6 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: WAR MEMORIAL AUDITORIUM $25

Brewers and brewery representatives will guide attendees through a selection of High Gravity beers from Abita, Yazoo and Chimay. Appetizers will be served, including pizza from The Mellow Mushroom, hot dogs and brats from The Dog of Nashville, and an assortment of cheeses provided by Cabot Creamery of Vermont. Proceeds will benefit TPAC Education.


10th Anniversary Celebration at the Frist

TEDx Nashville

SATURDAY, APRIL 9, 10 AM - 6 PM
LOCATION: TPAC - TENNESSEE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER $56.50

TEDxNashville will host its second annual event titled "Wonder." Distinguished leaders in technology, entertainment, design, science, art, education, government, public policy, healthcare and other areas will share their thoughts and ideas focused on creating positive changes in our society. This event builds on the highly successful 2010 program titled "Art + Science: The Future of Health."


Tennessee's Boldest Moment: Walking Tours

SATURDAY, APRIL 9, 1 PM - 4 PM
LOCATION: TENNESSEE STATE MUSEUM $10

The grounds of the Tennessee State Capitol and surrounding areas will come alive as period interpreters describe the historic events that took place in Nashville in 1861. Sponsored by the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Camp 28, the hour-long walking tours begin at the Tennessee State Museum and continue to the Capitol grounds. Tickets will be sold at the Tennessee State Museum's store. The tours cost $10 for adults and $5 for students with a valid student I.D. card.


Arts & Business Council of Greater Nashville's Band Challenge Finals

SUNDAY, APRIL 10, 6 PM
LOCATION: WILDHORSE SALOON $21

The eight finalists will compete to win the top prize in this final corporate band challenge. Corporate bands competing in the finals are 1600 Division (Bradley Arrant Boult Cummings), Desk Jockeys (SESAC, Inc.), Music Square Root (BMI), Not to Scale (Barge Waggoner Sumner & Cannon), The CIGNALS (CIGNA Government Services), Three Day Weekend (First Tennessee) and Windfall Profit$ (Flood, Bumstead, McCready & McCarthy). Channel 4's Demetria Kalodimos will host this event.


VSA Tennessee 10th Anniversary Celebration

TUESDAY, APRIL 12, 5:30 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: SCHERMERHORN SYMPHONY CENTER $10

VSA Tennessee's ten year anniversary celebration. At 5:30 pm, hands-on activity stations will open and a two-hour performance will begin at 7 pm. The concert includes performances by JP Williams, the top four VSA Tennessee Young Soloist winners (including a jazz trio, blues band, a country singer and a dulcimer player), Estelle Condra, the Tennessee School for the Blind Choir, and 2009 American Idol Top 10 Finalist Scott MacIntyre. VSA Tennessee, the state organization on arts and disability, brings the arts to all people and celebrates the abilities of all people.

Call for Volunteers!

Our 8th Annual Downtown Home Tour is Sunday, April 17. Over 100 volunteers are needed. Duties include checking tickets and guiding attendees to the units on display. Volunteers receive a FREE tour ticket ($10 value) and t-shirt.

Volunteer shifts are as follows:
A: 11:30 am - 2:00 pm
B: 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm
C: 3:45 pm - 6:15 pm
