Organ Recital and Business Lunch

THURSDAY, MAY 19, LUNCH: 11:30 AM; RECITAL: 12:15 PM
LOCATION: FIRST BAPTIST NASHVILLE $5 FOR LUNCH, CONCERT IS FREE

The Thursday Business Lunch and Organ Recital features Andrew Risinger, Organist and Associate Director of Music at West End United Methodist Church. Enjoy lunch in the Fellowship Hall and experience music played on the magnificent fifty-nine rank Schantz Organ. Lunch is served from 11:30 am to noon and the concert begins at 12:15 pm. Cost for lunch is $5 per person.


Goodguys 6th Annual Nashville Nationals

FRIDAY, MAY 20 - SUNDAY, MAY 22, FRI & SAT: 8 AM - 5 PM; SUN 8 AM - 3 PM
LOCATION: LP FIELD $18, $6 (AGES 7 - 12), FREE (6 AND UNDER)

Over 1,500 hot rods, customs, classics, muscle cars and trucks through 1972. Plus, vendor and manufacturer exhibits, swap meet, cars for sale corral, and the Goodguys AutoCross.


Hands On Nashville’s 20th Birthday Ice Cream Social & Volunteer Appreciation Event

FRIDAY, MAY 20, 11 AM - 1 PM
LOCATION: BRIDGESTONE ARENA FREE

Hands On Nashville is turning 20 this spring, and with support from Dairy Queen, the organization is throwing an ice cream social to celebrate! Join Hands On in the Bridgestone Arena Plaza for a free Dairy Queen Dilly Bar™ and other frozen treats while supplies last. Hands On Nashville is so grateful for the volunteers who have given their time to the community over the past 20 years to make Nashville the vibrant, caring city that it is today.


National Bike to Work Day

FRIDAY, MAY 20, 7:30 AM - 8:30 AM
LOCATION: CHURCH STREET PARK 615-828-6551

Bikers across Nashville will commute to downtown and meet at the park for free refreshments and coffee. No registration, just show up. Mayor Dean will speak to the crowd at 7:45 am. Everyone is encouraged to use alternative transportation to get to work on Friday!


Night Market

FRIDAY, MAY 20, 6:30 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE FARMERS' MARKET FREE

Shop "under the stars" at the Night Market! Enjoy shopping, wine from the cash bar, beverages from merchants, live music, free samples, and much more. Night Market will be held both inside the Market House and outside in the farm sheds, with all Market House restaurants and shops open.


Hermitage Hotel Rummage Sale

FRIDAY, MAY 20 - SATURDAY, MAY 21, 11 AM - 6 PM ON FRIDAY, 8 AM - NOON ON SATURDAY
LOCATION: THE HERMITAGE HOTEL FREE TO ATTEND

The Hermitage Hotel is hosting a rummage sale in the Work & Greer parking lot (211 6th Avenue N.). The majority of items are priced $20 and under with many items being only $5. Items for sale include Hermitage Hotel robes, artwork that once hung in guestrooms, table and floor lamps, plus much more.

 

Nashville Rollergirls vs. Jet City and Vette City

SATURDAY, MAY 21, 5:30 PM (FIRST GAME) AND 7 PM (SECOND GAME)
LOCATION: NASHVILLE MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM $10 - 15 ADULTS; $7 KIDS

The Vette City Vixens of Bowling Green, KY take on the Music City Brawl Stars at 5:30 and the Jet City Rollergirls of Everett, WA face the Music City All Stars immediately following the first match. The Nashville Junior Roller Derby will be the halftime show for the night. Women Rock for the Cure is the featured charity. A portion of the proceeds from the game will be donated to Women Rock For The Cure - an organization committed to fighting breast cancer by utilizing the passion, creativity and strength of the entertainment industry.


NPT Antiques and Fine Arts Appraisal Day

SATURDAY, MAY 21, 9 AM - 3 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE FARMERS' MARKET $10 PER ITEM

Some of the best-known antiques and fine arts appraisers in the country (many of them regulars on the popular Antiques Roadshow on public television) will converge on Nashville for the NPT Antiques and Fine Arts Appraisal Day. The charge per item for each verbal appraisal will be $10 and all proceeds directly benefit Nashville Public Television. Items that cannot be appraised at the fair include books, dolls, toys, coins, stamps, arrowheads, ammunition or items that cannot be easily transported by one person. Large items can be appraised from photographs.
 

Elizabeth & Raymond Chenault Duo Organists

SUNDAY, MAY 22, 4 PM
LOCATION: CHRIST CHURCH CATHEDRAL FREE

America’s leading duo-organists, Elizabeth and Raymond Chenault, specialize in works written for two performers on the organ (four hands and four feet). This free concert, sponsored by Lois and Peter Fyfe, concludes the 2010-11 season for the Sacred Space for the City Arts Series. Video screen projection is provided so all can experience the entertaining style as well as hearing the musical variety and artistry.


Nashville Symphony's Regions Free Day of Music

SUNDAY, MAY 22, NOON - 9 PM
LOCATION: SCHERMERHORN SYMPHONY CENTER FREE

The perfect way to celebrate a warm spring day! Previously held in the fall, this popular event invites the entire community to Schermerhorn Symphony Center to enjoy free musical performances all day long and into the night. The free day of music will feature over 30 local ensembles performing in various spaces throughout the building. The music will range from classical to jazz to pop, with an evening concert by the Nashville Symphony in Laura Turner Concert Hall.


Walk 100 Miles: March for the Arts

SUNDAY, MAY 22, 2 PM
LOCATION: CHURCH STREET PARK FREE

Join Mayor Karl Dean in his campaign to get Nashville moving. The casual 3-mile afternoon walk is free and family-friendly and begins in Church Street Park. This walking tour will feature notable arts and cultural destinations around downtown Nashville. Participants are encouraged to wear colorful costumes in this walk to support the Arts. This event is part of the "Walk 100 Miles with the Mayor" campaign.


Cookin' Out Country

WEDNESDAY, MAY 25, 11 AM - 2 PM
LOCATION: COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME AND MUSEUM $10

Head to the Country Music Hall of Fame for lunch on Wednesdays in May! Live music from 11:45 am to 12:15 pm, with autograph signings immediately following. Performance schedule includes Bryan White on May 25. The performers will also be the guest cooks of the day! Use the Music City Circuit to get down to the Hall. Just hop on and get off at the Hilton Downtown stop and walk on over!
 


Daryle Singletary

Hardcore country traditionalist Daryle Singletary has built a career based on musical integrity. Singletary earned his notoriety for country authenticity with such hits as “I Let Her Lie,” “Too Much Fun,” “Amen Kind of Love” and “The Note.” His new album Rockin’ In The Country further polishes his reputation for finding brilliantly written country songs and singing them to perfection. “Love You With The Lights On,” the collection’s first single, is as romantic a love ballad as he has ever sung.
