CMA Country Christmas

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 10, 7:30 PM
LOCATION: BRIDGESTONE ARENA $25

Celebrate the magic of the season! Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland hosts the evening as country stars perform holiday standards and future classics, plus share their treasured holiday memories and traditions with the audience.


Fall Band Concert

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 7 PM
LOCATION: HUME FOGG ACADEMIC MAGNET HIGH SCHOOL $5 - $10; CHILDREN 12 AND UNDER FREE

A performance by the Hume-Fogg Academic High School Bands including the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Intermediate Band, and small ensembles. Plus, special guests the Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences Band.


Tennessee's History Festival

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 11 - SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 10 AM - 4 PM EACH DAY
LOCATION: BICENTENNIAL MALL FREE

This year’s Tennessee History Festival features the Civil War in Tennessee. Experience how civilians and soldiers lived from day-to-day the Civil War period. With special reenactments by Generals U.S. Grant, Robert E. Lee, George H. Thomas and others.

 

Veterans' Day Parade

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 11 AM

The parade honors all veterans, including those of our current wars. It will proceed down Broadway from 14th Avenue to 3rd Avenue. Watch the marching parade and bands in support of the veterans who defended our country. Bring a flag! PLEASE NOTE: rolling road closures on Broadway from the interstate to 3rd Avenue in conjunction with the parade, beginning at 9 am and ending by 1 pm.


Ads to Art

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 7 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: THE ARTS COMPANY $25 IN ADVANCE; $35 AT THE DOOR

The American Advertising Federation of Nashville presents Ads to Art, a fundraiser for the 5th Avenue of the Arts initiative. This event features fine art from local talented and creative advertising and design icons. These artists have produced logos, billboards and print ads across the nation, now see what they can do with total creative liberty to produce their own works of art. Admission includes food, drink, and complimentary valet parking.


Literary Award Public Lecture: John McPhee

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 10 AM - 11:30 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY FREE

John McPhee, recipient of the 2011 Nashville Public Library Literary Award, is often considered the greatest living non-fiction writer and a legend in literary journalism. His narrative approach to a multitude of common and uncommon topics has earned him a Pulitzer Prize and legions of fans who accompany him on his carefully constructed literary journeys. Join the library for a rare public lecture by John McPhee.


Artist Reception

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 1 PM - 5 PM
LOCATION: LOST BOYS CENTER AND GALLERY FREE

"Africa To America – Unity In Art" runs through November 30. Meet the seven featured artists and some of the Lost Boys of Sudan at this reception. The Lost Boys Center & Gallery will be closing soon, so don't miss this chance to see their final exhibit. The Lost Boys Foundation will remain in operation to raise funds to assist Lost Boys with continuing their education goals. There are currently 200 Lost Boys of Sudan living in Middle Tennessee.


Nashville Half Marathon

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 7 AM
LOCATION: RIVERFRONT PARK REGISTRATION: $75 IN ADVANCE; $85 DAY OF

The third annual Nashville 1/2 Marathon race route includes Riverfront Park, The Gulch, downtown landmarks, and other areas of town. All runners receive complimentary race t-shirts, medals, and food and beer at the finish line. The start and finish line is at the corner of 1st and Broadway. Mayor's Challenge 5K Walk/Run

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 2 PM
LOCATION: PUBLIC SQUARE PARK FREE

Mayor Karl Dean has issued a new challenge to all Nashvillians – walk or run with him at a 5K (3.1 miles). Everyone is welcome to walk or run in this 5K, no matter their age or fitness level! This race is FREE, but advanced registration is required. PLEASE NOTE: road closures associated with this event! Click here for the route map.

 

An Evening With Tommy Lasorda

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 6:30 PM
LOCATION: BAKER DONELSON SPECIAL EVENTS CENTER $300

Tommy Lasorda, one of the most recognizable, successful and entertaining figures in the history of Major League Baseball, will share stories from his six-decade career in baseball. Former Dodger pitcher Rick Honeycutt, who starred at the University of Tennessee before launching his professional career, will also appear at the dinner and will introduce Lasorda. WSMV's Rudy Kalis will moderate the discussion. This event is a fundraiser for Nashville RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities).
