207 Printers Alley. 615-200-0782. Serving lunch, dinner and late night eats, this new English-style pub also offers a great place to watch soccer, rugby and other international sporting events. From the underground dance clubs of 1950's Memphis comes a hot new Broadway musical that bursts off the stage with explosive dancing, irresistible songs and a thrilling tale of fame and forbidden love. Inspired by actual events, Memphis is about a white radio DJ who wants to change the world and a black club singer who is ready for her big break. Winner of four 2010 Tony Awards including Best Musical.


Fall Jazz Band Concert

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 7 PM
LOCATION: HUME FOGG ACADEMIC MAGNET HIGH SCHOOL $5 - $10; CHILDREN 12 AND UNDER FREE

A performance by the Hume-Fogg Academic High School Jazz Bands including the Silver Jazz Band and the Blue Jazz Band.


Zumba at First Baptist Nashville

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM
LOCATION: FIRST BAPTIST NASHVILLE $5

The recreation center at First Baptist has added Zumba classes on Monday and Thursday nights. Zumba is a fun dance fitness program. The class is open to beginning and advanced students. The rec center also offers yoga classes, basketball, and a weight room featuring treadmills, elliptical machines and more. Call 615-664-6050 for rates and more information. Free on-site parking.

 

‘Tis the Season Holiday Marketplace

'Tis the Season Holiday Marketplace is a three-day shopping event filled with aisle after aisle of upscale gifts from over 100 unique merchants across the country. In its fifth year, 'Tis the Season is a major fundraiser for the Junior League of Nashville with proceeds going directly into the community to support the league's mission of improving the lives of women, children, and families. In addition, "Santa Snaps" will be held on Saturday from noon to 5 pm. Meet Mr. and Mrs. Claus and take home a festive family photo from Ashley Segroves Photography.


Screening: Miss Representation

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 7 PM - 10 PM
LOCATION: FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH ELCA FREE

Written and directed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, Miss Representation exposes how mainstream media contribute to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence in America. The film challenges the media's limited and often disparaging portrayals of women and girls, which make it difficult for women to achieve leadership positions and for the average woman to feel powerful herself. The screening will be preceded by a brief presentation from Magdalene/Thistle Farms, a residential program for women who have survived lives of violence, prostitution and addiction. After the screening, there will be a community discussion led by Dr. Brian Hooper, a therapist and fellow of the American Association of Pastoral Counselors.


Jammin' at Hippie Jack's

Jammin’ at Hippie Jack’s Live at the Tennessee State Museum! is back. This free musical showcase and TV taping of the PBS series features acclaimed independent singer-songwriter Brigitte DeMeyer along with legendary performer Cowboy Jack Clements. Doors open at 7 pm and the performance begins at 7:30 pm.


Night Market: A Taste of Thanksgiving

10th Annual Taste of Nashville

The Phoenix Club of Nashville presents Taste of Nashville 2011. Enjoy tastings from several local restaurants including Whiskey Kitchen, Paradise Park, Watermark, The Standard, Arnold's Country Kitchen, Sambuca, the Nashville City Club, Virago, Puckett's, Merchants, and many more. Virtuoso Showcase Classical Guitar Concert: Otto Tolonen

The 2011 Virtuoso Showcase Classical Guitar series brings world-class guitarists to the Nashville Public Library. Now in its ninth year, the series has a loyal following of music lovers and classical guitar students. The 2011 fall concert series concludes with a return performance by Finnish guitarist Otto Tolonen.
