121 3rd Avenue S. 615-780-9316. New retailer in SoBro selling boots, hats, adult clothing, kids' clothing, jewelry, belts, and more. Hours are Mon - Thurs, 10 am to 8 pm, Fri - Sat, 10 am to 9 pm, and Sun, noon to 6 pm.

26th Annual Nashville Boat & Sportshow

LOCATION: NASHVILLE CONVENTION CENTER $9; CHILDREN 15 AND UNDER: FREE

The four-day event showcases hundreds of the latest boats from the region’s top dealers, plus a wide selection of marine accessories and travel destinations, in addition to fun activities for the whole family, including Twiggy the Waterskiing Squirrel. Plus, seminars by national fishing experts.


Wicked Divas

This concert of diva show-stoppers from Broadway, opera and popular music highlights selections from the Tony Award-winning musical Wicked. Julia Murney appeared on Broadway as Elphaba, the future Wicked Witch of the West, while Alli Mauzey starred as Glinda. In addition to favorites from the "untold tale of the witches of Oz," these two captivating singers will perform favorites from Gypsy, Ragtime, Titanic and much more.

Country Fried Steak & Cornmeal Gravy Day

SATURDAY, JANUARY 14, 11 AM - 1 PM
LOCATION: CAPITOL GRILLE AT THE HERMITAGE HOTEL

Southern Living asked 10 Southern chefs for classic comfort food recipes. One of the chosen chefs was Nashville’s Tyler Brown of the Capitol Grille. Brown gave his recipe for Country Fried Steak with Uncle Ellis' Cornmeal Gravy. This recipe will be a featured item Saturday during lunch at the Capitol Grille. Everyone who orders the Country Fried Steak will be entered into a drawing for a night's stay at The Hermitage Hotel and dinner for two at the Capitol Grille. If you can't make it on Saturday, the country fried steak will be added to the Grille's daily lunch menu and the Oak Bar's menu. Reservations are encouraged: 615-345-7116.

 

Public Skate at the Bridgestone Arena

MONDAY, JANUARY 16, 1 PM - 2:30 PM
LOCATION: BRIDGESTONE ARENA $30

The Nashville Predators invite you to join GNASH and the Ice Girls on Martin Luther King Day for an afternoon of skating and cheering on the Preds at this Public Skate. Free skate rentals will be provided and the Predators vs. the NY Islanders away game will be shown on the mega-tron. Registration includes one goal zone ticket. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt.

 

Nashville Originals' Restaurant Week

MONDAY, JANUARY 16 - SUNDAY, JANUARY 22

A semiannual event sponsored by Nashville Originals, Restaurant Week is a great way to enjoy Nashville's unique local dining establishments. Participating downtown restaurants are Copper Kettle, Flyte World Dining and Wine, Listening Room Cafe, Provence Breads & Cafe, Puckett's Gro. & Restaurant, and Watermark. These restaurants will feature special prices and menus throughout the week, and across the mealtimes.
