5 Arcade. This new retailer in the Arcade sells Herbalife products, herbal teas, health shakes, nutritional products and more. They also offer wellness evaluations. Hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 2:30 pm.

 

New business: Sips 'n Strokes!
1112 Division Street. Bring your favorite beverage and paint a picture at this new business located in the ICON. Instructors will lead the class in a step-by-step process of how to paint a work that can take home at the end of the evening. Classes range from $25 - $35.

A reception, author talk and book signing with Erin Morgenstern, author of The Night Circus. The reception begins at 6:15 pm, author talk at 6:45 pm and book signing at 7:30 pm. The Night Circus follows the story of a mysterious circus which appears unexpectedly in different parts of the world, open only at night. The magical circus is an elaborate competition between two magicians, Celia and Marco, whose fates were decided for them as children.


Texaco Country Showdown

THURSDAY, JANUARY 26, 7 PM
LOCATION: RYMAN AUDITORIUM FREE

Country music artist LeAnn Rimes will host and perform at the 30th Annual National Final. Five national finalists each representing a sponsoring radio station will compete for $100,000 and the title, Best New Act in Country Music. The year-long competition begins each spring with over 450 live shows produced by country radio stations. Local winners then advance through regional showdowns until the field is narrowed down to five national finalists. For free tickets to this show, visit the Ryman's box office or call 615-889-3060.

Anansi The Spider

FRIDAY, JANUARY 27 - SATURDAY, JANUARY 28, 9:30 AM, 10:30 AM, AND 11:30 AM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY FREE

This colorful marionette and hand and rod puppet play is based on the African tale of a tricky spider who uses cleverness to achieve his wishes. This performance will delight children and their parents.


Taking it to the Street

SATURDAY, JANUARY 28, 2 PM - 5 PM
LOCATION: THE ARTS COMPANY FREE

Photographer Robert McCurley will give a presentation on street photography including a brief history of the genre, examples of street photography, philosophies and techniques used by the masters. Following the presentation, participants will embark on a two-hour street photography excursion in downtown Nashville to apply what they have learned. RSVP required: art@theartscompany.com.

Special Event Venues

Planning a corporate or social event this year? Look no further than downtown! These special event venues are the perfect location for your upcoming event. Also, many of the downtown art galleries are great venue rental options.

BEEP!

BEEP is the Best Ever Event Parking, and it always lives up to its name. FREE parking in Lot R for Bridgestone Arena events, with an optional $3 per person, round-trip shuttle service. Four more dates of service in January and in February there are seven Predators games and four additional events, a total of 15 BEEP-cheap nights. Don't miss out!
