Urban Market: March Madness 5-Year Anniversary Celebration

New Student Class and Newcomer Dance Party

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 7, 7 PM - 8:45 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE BALLROOM $20

An introduction to contemporary social dancing. The night starts with a basic beginner group dance lesson and is followed by a dance demonstration and newcomer dance party. This night will feature a mix of popular social dances including two-step, salsa, swing and more! All are welcome and no partner or previous experience is necessary.

March Class: Delvin Farms

Cindy Delvin of Delvin Farms will lead an in-depth discussion about the importance of local, seasonal, and organic produce, as well as information on why it is important to avoid genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Advanced registration is requested. All participants will receive a 10% discount on groceries purchased at the time of the class, as well as a $5 gift card toward grocery purchases during a return visit. This class will also be offered on Saturday, March 10 at 10 am.

Fareless Friday: Free Rides Day on MTA

FRIDAY, MARCH 9, ALL DAY AND NIGHT

Nashville MTA will offer free bus rides on Friday, March 9 to encourage people who do not ride public transit to try it. The free rides will last all day and are unlimited. Save gas and use the bus on Friday to get to work, your favorite restaurant, a honky tonk, a downtown museum or anywhere else life takes you! And finding when and where to catch the bus is super easy with Google's Transit Trip Planner. Or, use MTA's traditional bus schedules.


18th Annual Tom King Classic Half Marathon and 5K Run

SATURDAY, MARCH 10, 7:30 AM 5K START, 8 AM HALF MARATHON START
LOCATION: LP FIELD

Autism Speaks™ presents Autism Sings

TUESDAY, MARCH 13, 6 PM - 10 PM
LOCATION: JIMMY BUFFETT'S MARGARITAVILLE NASHVILLE $5 MINIMUM DONATION AT THE DOOR

Country artists will show their support in the fight against autism at this benefit concert. Ty Herndon, Bucky Covington, Bo Bice, Carter's Chord and Mockingbird Sun will perform individual acoustic sets. Also, 13-year-old Katie Chance, who was diagnosed on the autism spectrum at two years old, will perform and CMT's Evan Farmer will emcee this event. Autism Speaks has given back more than $2 million to Tennessee in five years. An autographed guitar signed by all six participating artists will be auctioned off and fans can bid on meet-and-greet packages with the artists. VIP seating is available, call 615-238-1625 to make a VIP reservation.


The Gettysburg College Choir at First Lutheran Church

TUESDAY, MARCH 13, 7 PM
LOCATION: FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH ELCA FREE

A variety of a cappella sacred and secular music will be featured, including Shakespeare texts set to music by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Matthew Harris, and Jaakko Mäntyjärvi. The concert will also include selections from Maurice Ravel’s Trois Chansons, and music by René Clausen, Dale Grotenhuis, Ben Allaway, William Hawley and F. Melius Christiansen. The Gettysburg College Choir is the premier choral ensemble of the Sunderman Conservatory of Music at Gettysburg College in central Pennsylvania. Directed by Dr. Robert Natter, the choir is acclaimed for superlative performances of choral literature from the Renaissance era to contemporary music.
