9th Annual Downtown Home Tour presented by Summit Property Management

SUNDAY, APRIL 22, NOON - 6 PM
ELEVEN DOWNTOWN CONDO AND APARTMENT BUILDINGS

Gather home decor ideas, see amazing views, shop for condos and apartments, and get an idea of what it's like to live in downtown Nashville! Over twenty individual units on display at eleven downtown residential buildings. An assortment of private residences, model units, rental and purchase units, plus rooftop decks will be on display during the self-guided tour. The home tour website features general tour information, free parking info, and more. When you purchase your ticket, you will receive a tour map to help you plan your route. Come down early and make a day of it downtown! Several businesses are offering special promotions the day of the home tour. Purchase tickets ($10) in advance or on the day of the tour at the main ticket sales location at The Arts Company or at Encore.

National Dance Week at Nashville Ballroom

FRIDAY, APRIL 20 - SUNDAY, APRIL 29, 7 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE BALLROOM

Nashville Ballroom kicks off National Dance Week with a robust weekend including the Nashville Swing Dance Foundation’s Swing and Lindy Hop Dance on Friday night, April 20 and Sentir El Ritmo’s Salsa Social on Saturday, April 21. Group dance classes are open to the public and begin at 7 pm each night, Monday through Friday. Wednesday and Thursday are beginner nights and no partner is necessary. Dance Week festivities conclude with a Vintage Dance on Friday, April 27.

 

Earth Day Discount

Stanley Cup Playoffs Nashville Predators vs. Detroit Red Wings

FRIDAY, APRIL 20, 7 PM
LOCATION: BRIDGESTONE ARENA

The Nashville Predators host the Detroit Red Wings for game five of the 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs! The puck drops at 7 pm, but festivities begin at 4 pm with a party in the plaza featuring live music, games and more. Tickets are still available and can be purchased online, by calling 615-770-PUCK or visiting the Bridgestone Arena box office. Also, Friday is a Preds Pride Day - so wear your Preds gear and colors all day on Friday. Go Preds!

 

13th Annual Ragin' Cajun Crawfish Boil

SATURDAY, APRIL 21, 4 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: LP FIELD $35 IN ADVANCE; $40 AT THE DOOR

The Nashville Junior Chamber's 13th Annual Ragin' Cajun Crawfish Boil will take place on the East Bank Greenway in front of LP Field! This crawfish boil features New Orleans-style food, all you can drink beer (till it's gone), and 3,000 lbs. of fresh crawfish. Event benefits Musicians on Call and Nashville Junior Chamber charities.

 

Southern Biscuit Baking Class

SATURDAY, APRIL 21, 4 PM - 6 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE FARMERS MARKET $35 ADULTS; $15 CHILDREN

Learn the art of classic Southern biscuit baking with local biscuit expert Maryann Byrd. She will teach you the recipes and tricks she has learned while documenting the best biscuit makers in the South in her film and book, The Biscuit Dive Guide. Recipes in this class include the Magic biscuit, a sweet potato biscuit, butter crisp, and a country ham & cheddar. Enjoy samples during class. Register online.
 

 

Raising the Roof

SUNDAY, APRIL 22, 6 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: MCKENDREE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH $25

A fundraiser to help construct a rooftop organic vegetable garden. Enjoy the view of Nashville's skyline, live music, and hors d'oeuvres. This garden will help provide fresh, healthy snacks for the children at McKendree's daycare and fresh produce for McKendree's community kitchen, which serves Nashville's homeless, indigent and displaced veterans. Music City Corporate Band Challenge Finals

MONDAY, APRIL 23, 6 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: WILDHORSE SALOON $15

Seven corporate bands will rock out at this 4th annual event by the Arts & Business Council of Greater Nashville. Each band will perform two songs before a panel of music industry judges. Winners will be announced at the end of the competition and will receive cash awards to donate to the arts organization of their choice. The first place winner will perform at the 2012 CMA Festival! Tickets available online or at the door.

Interstate Closures: I-24

The downtown portion of I-24 will be closed this weekend from Friday at 9 pm to Monday at 5 am (April 20 - 23). Check out all of the closure maps and alternative route suggestions online. These closures will continue on weekends through August 31, 2012, excepting a few weekends due to major events at LP Field. please plan accordingly!
