Southern Biscuit Baking Class Farmers' Market

THURSDAY, MAY 24, 6 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE FARMERS' MARKET $35

Learn the art of classic Southern biscuit baking with local biscuit expert Maryann Byrd. She will teach you the recipes and tricks she has learned while documenting the best biscuit makers in the South in her film and book, The Biscuit Dive Guide. Recipes in this class include the Magic biscuit, a sweet potato biscuit, classic Southern, and a country ham & cheddar. Enjoy samples during class. Register online.

A reception, author talk and book signing with Andrea Wulf, author of Chasing Venus: The Race to Measure the Heavens. The reception begins at 6:15 pm, author reading and talk at 6:45 pm which will be followed by a book signing. Wulf has written for the New York Times, LA Times, Wall Street Journal, the Sunday Times and the Guardian, as well as others.


Screening: Under African Skies

Celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Paul Simon's Graceland release with a free screening of Under African Skies, Paul Simon's Graceland Journey. Popcorn and snacks will be served.


Frist Friday featuring Rodney Crowell

FRIDAY, MAY 25, 6 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS $10

Now in its tenth year, this popular summer concert series takes place on the last Friday of the month from May to August! Grammy-winning songwriter, producer, and artist, Rodney Crowell, will perform in the courtyard. Light appetizers are provided and there is a cash bar. No admission charge for members, and non-members pay $10. Admission includes entrance to current exhibits.


Rocketown Summer Sessions

BEGINNING MONDAY, MAY 28, 9 AM - 3 PM (PRE-CARE: 8 AM TO 9 AM)
LOCATION: ROCKETOWN $200/WEEK-LONG SESSION

Looking for something fun for your kids to do this summer? Kids ages 9 to 18 are able to sign up for Summer Sessions at Rocketown. Activities and classes in skateboarding, movie making, photography, fashion design, music and dance. Plus, Rhyme Lab, Jam Lab, Gear Heads, Runway and more. Youth will be able to explore their interests and passions through project-based learning and build deep relationships with mentors who will listen and walk beside them. Sessions begin Monday, May 28 and run through Friday, July 20.

 

Battle for the Saddle

TUESDAY, MAY 29, 6 PM
LOCATION: WILDHORSE SALOON

The Wildhorse Saloon wants to discover country music's next big act at the Battle for the Saddle band search competition. The winner of the 4th annual competition will win $2,500, perform during the week of the CMA Music Festival and more. This competition is open to the public, and the judging process takes the audience's response into consideration.
