The downtown portion of I-24 will be closed this weekend from 9 pm Friday to at 5 am Monday (June 1 - 4, 2012). Plus, Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge will be closed beginning at 6 am on Saturday, June 2 to 2:30 am on Sunday, June 3. FRIDAY, JUNE 1, 5:30 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: 5TH AVENUE OF THE ARTS FREE
Art talks on the 5th Avenue of the Arts hosted by Paul Polycarpou, editor of Nashville Arts Magazine. Cocktails will be served at 5:30 pm. At 6 pm, The Rymer Gallery will start the evening with featured alumni from art schools in the exhibit, "New Ground." Tinney Contemporary features mixed-media artist John Folsom speaking about his new exhibit, "Anodyne Frontiers" at 6:45 pm. The Arts Company will round out the evening with a conversation about commissioning works of art with mixed-media artist Wayne Brezinka and photographer David Farmerie at 7:15 pm. This event is free, but registration is required. Click here to RSVP. Free valet parking and complimentary wine and cupcakes will be available with registration.
SATURDAY, JUNE 2, 4 PM - 10 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE FARMERS' MARKET $25 - $40 ADULTS; $15 CHILDREN 12 & UNDER
All-you-can eat crawfish, corn, and potatoes. Admission also includes bottomless beer, soft drinks, and water (two pricing options). Seven bands from Baton Rouge will play throughout the event. Plus, raffles, t-shirts and door prizes. Proceeds benefit Operation Homefront, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the needs of deployed and wounded soldiers and their families. Advance tickets are on sale online until midnight on Friday, June 1. A limited quantity of tickets will be available at the door.

The Clarksville Red River Sirens face the Music City Brawl Stars at 5:30 pm. Immediately following the first game, Duke City's Munecas Muertas, from Albuquerque, skate against the Music City All Stars.

The 10th annual Taste of Music City is Nashville's largest food and drink festival. Enjoy food, wine, and beer from over 50 restaurant and beverage sponsors. Plus, live music on the main stage. Tickets to this event include all food and beverages. Tickets are $45 for adults (in advance), $10 for kids ages 3-12, and free for those under three.

Nashville Ballroom welcomes West Coast Swing Pro Ben Hooten as the guest instructor for June’s Swing 'n Country Dance Weekend: June 1 - 3. Offering three workshops each day at 5 pm, 6 pm, and 7 pm. Workshops are open to the public and are $15 each – or all 3 workshops for $35. Admission to the dance party is $10. The dance begins at 8 pm, with the last dance at 11 pm.

Songwriters in the Park features live performances by local songwriters including Heath Forbes, Craig Jackson, Jeremy Rash and Jason Daniels. These events will continue through September on the first Saturday of each month to coincide with the First Saturday Art Crawl.

The 5K Run begins at 7 am and will be followed by the kids' fun run. After the races, there will be live music, a fun festival and kids' zone with free activities located in LP Field Lot T (at Victory Avenue). Activities include giant inflatables, face painting, balloon artists, an appearance by Shoney Bear®, a police cruiser, members of the Nashville Police S.W.A.T. Team, the Nashville Police Bomb Team and their Bomb Robot, a Police helicopter and more. Registration begins at 6 am. Registration fee for adults increases to $35 on race day. PLEASE NOTE: road closures associated with this event! Demonbreun from 3rd Avenue to 14th Avenue and 3rd Avenue from Symphony Place to Demonbreun will be closed from 6 am - noon.

"Amazing Wonders Aviation" Vacation Bible School at First Baptist Nashville for Kindergarten to 6th grade students. Kids will enjoy outrageous games, creative crafts, tasty snacks, and Bible stories. VBS ends at 12:30 pm (8:45 am - 12:30 pm during this week is free). Or, kids can bring a sack lunch and stay all day with VBS PLUS. This additional program is Monday - Thursday from 12:30 pm - 5 pm and kids will go on trips to the Adventure Science Center, Sportsplex, Owl's Hill, and Opry Mills. VBS PLUS is $20/day or $75 for all four days. Registration is required.
