Full Moon Festival

THURSDAY, JUNE 14, 7 PM - 1 AM
LOCATION: BOOTLEGGERS INN FREE

Free outdoor live music at the corner of 2nd & Broadway on the night of the full moon each month! Performances by Chris Henry and the Hardcore Grass, Adam Olmstead, Midnight from Memphis, Shawn Camp and many more. Plus, moonshine, cold beer, spirits, and hot food for sale. The festival will be held in the surface parking lot that is adjacent to Bootleggers and inside the moonshine bar. The Full Moon Festival will also be held on July 5, August 2, August 30, September 27 and October 31.


Artist's Perspective: Ben Venom "Heavy Quilting"

THURSDAY, JUNE 14, 6:30 PM
LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS FREE

In this lecture, San Francisco-based artist Ben Venom will discuss his interest in juxtaposing traditional handmade crafts with one of the more extreme musical genres, heavy metal. His work is serious, yet attempts to take on a B-movie horror film style, where even the beasts of metal need a warm blanket to sleep.


Golden Dragon Acrobats

LOCATION: NASHVILLE CHILDREN'S THEATRE $12 - $24

The Golden Dragon Acrobats represent the best of a time-honored tradition that began more than 27 centuries ago. They blend lavish costumes, award-winning acrobatics, and traditional dance together with a hint of ancient and contemporary theater to create a spectacular performance for all ages.

LOCATION: 417 UNION RESTAURANT & BAR FREE

Celebrate 417 Union Restaurant and Bar's sixth birthday with complimentary samples from their new menu, drink specials and live music.


June Night Market

FRIDAY, JUNE 15, 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE FARMERS' MARKET FREE

Shop "under the stars" at the Night Market! Enjoy shopping, wine from the cash bar, beverages from merchants, live music, free samples, artisan booths, and much more. Night Market will be held both inside the Market House and outside in the farm sheds, with most Market House restaurants and shops open. Vendors on the farm side will be selling local produce, meat, cheese and more!


12th Annual Jefferson Street Jazz and Blues Festival

SATURDAY, JUNE 16, NOON - 9 PM
LOCATION: BICENTENNIAL MALL Free; $5 - $20 (for amphitheater seating)

Local and national jazz and blues musicians will perform all day including Cojo and the Konnects, After 5 Tux Band, Karlton Taylor Trio, Marcus Finney Band, B.B. King All-Stars, Tina Brown, and Joe Johnson and Kevin Whalum. The headliner, Howard Hewett, will perform at 7:30 pm. Food and art vendors will line the Bicentennial Mall and many participating artists will be available to meet fans and sign autographs. This event is organized and sponsored by the Jefferson Street United Merchants Partnership – J.U.M.P. It is free to attend the festival. However, seating in the amphitheater is $5. VIP seating is available for $20. Also, on Friday night, the Bridging the Gap Mixer on the Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge.


Nashville Pride Festival

SATURDAY, JUNE 16, 11 AM - 7 PM
LOCATION: RIVERFRONT PARK $5 ADULTS; AGES 12 AND UNDER FREE

The Nashville Pride Festival features musical entertainment on three stages, 100+ vendors at the Artists Village, and plenty of surprises. Live performances by Kristy Lee, Kerli, Antigone Rising, Seeing Red and many more. Also, the Equality Walk begins at 11 am in front of the Hard Rock Cafe.

PLEASE NOTE - road closures: 1st Avenue will be closed from Church Street to Demonbreun and Broadway will be closed from 1st Avenue to 2nd Avenue on Saturday, June 16 between 6 am and 10 pm.

 

July 4th Transportation

Take the Music City Star downtown for the 4th of July and make getting to and from the festivities even easier! Round-trip tickets cost only $12. Online tickets will be on sale through Friday, June 22 or until they are sold out, whichever comes first.

If you notice something amiss while walking downtown, please let us know about it! Report graffiti that needs to be removed, public sidewalks that need pressure washing, weeds, trash and other unsightly items! Use this form to send a request directly to our Clean and Safe Team manager. NOTE: these services are only available in the CBID and the GBID (maps of these areas are provided on the form page).

 

Interstate Closures: I-24

The downtown portion of I-24 will be closed this weekend from Friday at 9 pm to Monday at 5 am (June 15 - 18, 2012). Check out the closure maps and alternative route suggestions online. These closures will continue on weekends through August 31, 2012, except for a few weekends with major events at LP Field. Please plan accordingly!

Large groups and events that are downtown June 13 - 27, 2012 include Milsoft (300, June 10 - 15), AE Ventures (650, June 25 - 29), and Central Station Alarm Association/ESX (4,000, June 26 - 30).
