New restaurant: Shish Kabob & Hookah Lounge!
204 Commerce Street. 615-678-8952. This new restaurant specializes in Middle Eastern and Persian cuisine and offers a hookah bar after 5 pm each night. Hours are Mon - Thurs, 10:30 am - 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm - 11:00 pm; Fri - Sat, 10:30 am - 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm - 3:00 am; and Sun, 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm.

 

New honky tonk: Swingin' Doors Saloon!
111 4th Avenue South. 615-736-5050. This new honky tonk is located on 4th Avenue just south of Broadway. Featuring live music all day and night and a full menu. Hours are Mon - Sun, 11:00 am - 2:30 am.

Enjoy a pre-party in celebration of Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw's concert on Saturday night at LP Field. Live music by Steel Magnolia, Lyndsey Highlander, and Russell Dickerson! Cover at the door is two nonperishable food items to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee.


Stuff the Bus Launch Concert with United Way of Metropolitan Nashville

The Stuff the Bus Launch Concert features LIVE UNITED Song Contest finalists and music industry professionals. Help the United Way kick-off our community's Stuff the Bus efforts in true Nashville style! Bring new school supplies as admission or make a suggested donation of $5 or more.


Bluegrass Nights at the Ryman: Vince Gill

Grammy award-winning country singer and songwriter Vince Gill will kickoff the Bluegrass Nights at the Ryman series this summer. Additional concerts in this series include Chris Thile & Michael Daves and The Boxcars on June 28, The Gibson Brothers on July 5, Rhonda Vincent on July 12, Dailey & Vincent on July 19, and Ricky Skaggs on July 26. Also, before each show there will be free music outside of the Ryman from 6 pm - 7 pm as part of the Pickin' on the Plaza series.

Curator's Perspective: "A Conservative Revolutionary: John Constable and Art History"

This lecture contrasts John Constable's ideas on the history of landscape painting, as revealed by lectures he gave in 1833 and 1836, with critics' shocked responses to his apparent lack of finish and disregard for formal decorum. It surveys Constable's posthumous international celebrity as a precursor of the Impressionists.
