4th of July Events

Prelude to the 4th

TUESDAY, JULY 3, 5:30 PM TO 9 PM
LOCATION: THE LAWN AT RIVERFRONT FREE

Celebrate Independence Day with a pre-party on Tuesday, July 3 at The Lawn at Riverfront (a new venue for this year's festivities)! The fun starts with a free concert. Ayla Brown performs at 5:30 pm and 10 Out Of Tenn, a group of Nashville-based independent musicians, plays at 7 pm. A fireworks display will cap off the concert at approximately 9 pm.

 

Let Freedom Sing! Music City July 4th Celebration

WEDNESDAY, JULY 4, GATES OPEN AT NOON, FIREWORKS SHOW AT 9:45 PM
LOCATION: THE LAWN AT RIVERFRONT FREE

A new venue for this year's event: The Lawn at Riverfront! Hailed as one of the best fireworks displays in the nation, this event is one of Music City's biggest events. Festivities begin at noon with the free Family Fun Zone. Pre-show live music runs from 1 pm - 7 pm featuring This Is She, Striking Matches, Tyme, Jason Eskridge, and Madison Cain. The official main stage concert begins at 6:30 pm with The Mavericks, Music City Hit-Makers, Craig Morgan, Sarah Darling, Ayla Brown, Barry Scott and the Nashville Symphony Orchestra. The celebration concludes with longest and largest fireworks display in the city's history choreographed to the sounds of the Nashville Symphony playing on the banks of the Cumberland River at approximately 9:45 pm. 4th of July Party & Buffet

WEDNESDAY, JULY 4, 7:30 PM -10 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE CITY CLUB $12 BUFFET

Watch the fireworks from the 20th floor of the Nashville City Club. Toast of Music City deemed the city club as the "Best View of the City" in 2011 boasting its great view of the Cumberland River and LP Field! A casual buffet featuring pulled pork and Sloppy Joe sliders, potato salad, sliced watermelon, Caprese skewers, and deviled eggs is available for $12/person. Desserts for $5 - $6. Plus, drink specials including sangria ($4/glass or $10/carafe) and 2-for-1 beer and house wine. RSVPs are requested: 615-244-3693. 4th of July VIP Viewing Party at The Ledge

WEDNESDAY, JULY 4, 5 PM - 10 PM
LOCATION: HARD ROCK CAFE

Enjoy Music City's 4th of July Celebration at the Hard Rock Cafe on the Ledge, the cafe's outdoor deck with great views of the fireworks. The admission fee ($50) includes a dinner buffet featuring American fare, iced tea, and free admission to the post-party concert at 10 pm with a performance by Brasher Bogue. Cash bar. 50 Year Celebration: Kick-off Event

THURSDAY, JUNE 28, NOON
LOCATION: METRO COURTHOUSE FREE

Join Mayor Karl Dean along with former Nashville mayors Richard Fulton, Bill Boner, Phil Bredesen, and Bill Purcell to kick off a nine-month celebration of the 50th anniversary of Metropolitan Nashville & Davidson County government. Enjoy live music and a free lunch to the first 500 people in attendance! The event will recognize the 50th anniversary of the successful referendum creating the Metro charter. On June 28, 1962, city and county voters approved a referendum consolidating the city and county governments and creating the Metropolitan government. This referendum made Nashville the first city in the country to achieve full city-county consolidation.

 

Bluegrass Nights at the Ryman: Chris Thile & Michael Daves and The Boxcars

THURSDAY, JUNE 28, 7:30 PM

The Bluegrass Nights at the Ryman series continues with Chris Thile & Michael Daves and The Boxcars on June 28. Additional concerts in this series include The Gibson Brothers on July 5, Rhonda Vincent on July 12, Dailey & Vincent on July 19, and Ricky Skaggs on July 26. Also, before each show there will be free music on the Ryman plaza from 6 pm - 7 pm as part of the Pickin' on the Plaza series.

Jerry Seinfeld has an uncanny ability to joke about the little things in life that relate to audiences everywhere. Seinfeld was hailed as "the master stand-up comic of his generation" and "the best comedian of our time" in a recent Washington Post article by Tom Shales.


Frist Friday with Sam Bush and Lera Lynn

FRIDAY, JUNE 29, 6 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS $10

Now in its tenth year, this popular summer concert series takes place on the last Friday of the month from May to August! Grammy-winning multi-instrumentalist, Sam Bush, will perform in the courtyard. Plus, special guest Lera Lynn. Light appetizers are provided and there is a cash bar. No admission charge for members, and non-members pay $10. Admission includes entrance to current exhibits.

 

Parks & Recreation Month: Free Fitness Class

SUNDAY, JULY 1, 8 AM - 9 AM
LOCATION: PUBLIC SQUARE FREE

Metro Parks kicks off Parks and Recreation Month with a free fitness class in front of the Metro Courthouse! The class will showcase Zumba, yoga, boot camp and other fitness classes that Metro Parks offers. Did you know that Davidson County has 117 parks and over 50 miles of greenways?


Country to the Core Market

TUESDAY, JULY 3, 11 AM - 2 PM
LOCATION: BANK OF AMERICA PLAZA FREE TO ATTEND

A new weekly farmers market will be held in Bank of America Plaza (located between the Bank of America building and the Doubletree Hotel). This market will be held on Tuesdays from 11 am to 2 pm. Shop for local organically and conventionally grown produce, eggs, hand-crafted cheeses, baked goods, prepared foods and more. Farm fresh produce available on Tuesday, July 3 includes sweet corn, blackberries, melons and more. This event is organized by Good Food for Good People and is part of their Edible Community Project.

- 1st Avenue North between Broadway and Church

- Demonbreun between 1st and 2nd Avenues
- Molloy between 1st and 2nd Avenues

Wednesday, July 4:
Beginning at 6 am:

All roads will reopen no later than 5 am on Thursday, July 5.

Cumberland Park and the surrounding parking lots will be closed July 3 and July 4 for the set-up and performance of the fireworks shows.

Also, please note these closures due to the I Run for the Party July 4th Music City 5K/10K. Rolling closures from approximately 7:45 am - 9:45 am. Race begins at 8 am on Wednesday, July 4.
