Artist's Forum featuring Erin Anfinson, Mark Hosford, and Kristi Hargrove

THURSDAY, JULY 12, 6:30 PM
LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS FREE

These three artists will speak about the artistic process and concepts of their artworks represented in the Frist Center's exhibition, Metamorphoses: Drawings by Erin Anfinson, Kristi Hargrove, Mark Hosford, and Chris Scarborough. Participants are encouraged to join the dialogue.

 

U.S. Air Guitar Championship

THURSDAY, JULY 12, 7 PM - 11 PM
LOCATION: THE RUTLEDGE $10 AUDIENCE TICKETS; $25 CONTESTANTS

Contestants will battle to be crowned Air Guitar King. Each one will perform for one minute and be judged on a combination of technical merit and stage presence. All guitars must be invisible, and the jury is a panel of independent judges selected by U.S. Air Guitar. The winner of this regional contest will receive a paid trip to compete in the finals in Denver, CO!


A Midsummer Night's Dream

FRIDAY, JULY 13 - SATURDAY, JULY 14, 10:30 AM AND 11:30 AM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY FREE

More than 20 marionettes and hand-and-rod puppets are featured in the show, as well as custom miniature costumes, an original score, and a spectacular set based on Van Gogh's famous painting, "Starry Night." Adapted from the Shakespeare play and performed by Wishing Chair Productions' puppet troupe. Recommended for ages 6 and older.


Paint with Intern Adam from 107.5

FRIDAY, JULY 13, 7 PM - 10 PM
LOCATION: SIPS 'N STROKES $35

Paint one of Sips 'n Strokes' most requested paintings, The Funky Owl, and hang out with special guest, Intern Adam from 107.5 The River!


7th Annual Soul Food Festival

SATURDAY, JULY 14, GATES OPEN: 4 PM, MUSIC BEGINS: 6 PM
LOCATION: RIVERFRONT PARK $30 GENERAL ADMISSION, $60 VIP

Performers include War, Tevin Campbell, Jeffrey Osborne, Midnight Star, Kelly Price and Ginuwine. Gates open at 4 pm, music starts at 6 pm. Soul food and beverages will be sold at the festival. PLEASE NOTE: Road closures associated with this event include 1st Avenue from Demonbreun to Church Street and Broadway from 1st to 2nd Avenues (on Saturday, July 14 from 6 am - midnight).


Chet Atkins: Friends and Flame Keepers

SATURDAY, JULY 14, 1:30 PM
LOCATION: COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME AND MUSEUM INCLUDED WITH MUSEUM ADMISSION

Chet Atkins was known as an innovative guitarist; as a producer who helped define the Nashville Sound; as a generous teacher and collaborator; and as a student of other guitarists. This exhibit-closing concert will highlight artists who are carrying on and expanding Chet’s guitar style. John Knowles will host this tribute featuring performances by Megan Taylor Anderson, Thom Bresh, Guy Van Duser, Ben Hall, Brooks Robertson, and more. Presented in support of the exhibit Chet Atkins: Certified Guitar Player.


Help End Childhood Hunger in America, No Kid Hungry Dinner

SUNDAY, JULY 15, 6 PM - 9:30 PM
LOCATION: THE HERMITAGE HOTEL $200 PER PERSON

A multi-course benefit dinner to help end childhood hunger. A cocktail reception at 6 pm with a multi-course seated dinner with wine pairings at 7 pm. Participating chefs include Hal Holden-Bache, Lockeland Table (Nashville), Edward Lee, 610 Magnolia (Louisville, KY), Steven Satterfield, Miller Union (Atlanta, GA), Ryan Smith, Empire State South (Atlanta, GA) and Tandy Wilson, City House (Nashville, TN) with host chef Tyler Brown from The Capitol Grille at The Hermitage Hotel. RSVP required.


5th Annual Mayor's Home Ownership Fair

SUNDAY, JULY 15, 1 PM - 5 PM
LOCATION: BRIDGESTONE ARENA FREE

The 5th Annual Mayor’s Home Ownership Fair will be held at the arena on the concourse level. This fair is a one-stop shop for all home buying and homeownership answers. Featuring informational booths from over 50 organizations including real estate agencies, home builders, title companies, lenders and non-profits. The fair offers the essential tools for better preparedness during the process of purchasing a home in the Nashville area.


Pine Cove Base Camp

MONDAY, JULY 16 - FRIDAY, JULY 20, 9 AM - 4 PM
LOCATION: FIRST BAPTIST NASHVILLE $225

A week-long summer camp for Kindergarten to 4th graders. Pine Cove Christian Camp (based out of Tyler, TX) is coming to First Baptist Nashville. Featuring amazing camp counselors and a kid-style worship band, plus giant inflatable water slides, climbing walls, a euro bungee, and laser tag!


BRT Community Forum

TUESDAY, JULY 17, 11 AM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY FREE

This community forum will provide information on the proposed route of the East-West Connector and transit station locations, as well as how BRT differs from traditional bus service. The East-West Connector will run along an eight-mile corridor that stretches from Five Points in East Nashville to the White Bridge Road area in West Nashville. It will allow residents and visitors to travel through the heart of the city faster than they can in a car. The BRT service is expected to serve more than one million passengers in its first year and public input is critical to the success of this initiative.

During Bridgestone Arena events, park FREE at LP Field Lot R. Optional round-trip shuttle service is $3 per person with a convenient drop-off point near the arena. Click here for all of the details about this parking option. (Here's a tip: You don't have to attend an arena event to use this service. However, the free parking and shuttle option are only available on Bridgestone Arena event dates).
