Country music artist Daryle Singletary will perform at the Silver Dollar Saloon Concert Series presented by Popcorn Sutton's Tennessee White Whiskey. Singletary is best known for his hits "I Let her Lie" and "Too Much Fun," and has been touted as the best traditional country singer of his generation by Billboard and USA Today.

Two nights of entertainment featuring the Renaissance Nashville Hotel associates performing from a wide range of genres including country and pop. Drop in for a great show either night.

LOCATION: NASHVILLE CITY CENTER $50
A wine-tasting party and silent auction. Enjoy heavy hors d'oeuvres, wine, cigars, and live music by Ryan Bottoms. This event will be held at the Waller Conference Center and Terrace on the 27th Floor of Nashville City Center. Proceeds from this event benefit Make-A-Wish Middle Tennessee.
FRIDAY, AUGUST 24, 6 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: FRIST CAFE FREE
A night of spoken word and slam poetry in the Frist Center's Cafe in conjunction with Southern Word. Through the literary and performing arts, Southern Word offers creative solutions for youth to build literacy and presentation skills and act as leaders in the improvement of their communities. Enjoy readings and performances from award-winning poets Kelly Falzone and Sebastian James. Kelly and Sebastian will be joined by other guest poets and emerging artists from Nashville's writing community.
FRIDAY, AUGUST 24 - SATURDAY, AUGUST 25, 11 AM - 11 PM ON FRIDAY; 10 AM - 11 PM ON SATURDAY
LOCATION: RIVERFRONT PARK $15 - $30; VIP: $80 - $160
Over 100 BBQ cook teams will compete for cash and prizes in this Tennessee State Championship event sanctioned by the Memphis BBQ Network and the Kansas City BBQ Society. Live music from 5 pm to 10:30 pm on Friday and from noon - 11 pm on Saturday. Headliners include The Fabulous Thunderbirds on Friday night and Grand Funk Railroad on Saturday night. Additional activities include the Kids Zone, the Cool Cars & Hot Bikes Show on 2nd Avenue, craft beers in the Biergarten, the Music City Corn Hole Tournament and more. Saturday attendees can buy a special pass to sample the teams' fare during the "People's Choice Award" in the Grand Ol' Porker Arena ($5 extra).

The Appalachian Rollergirls from Boone, North Carolina, face the Music City Brawl Stars at 5:30 pm. Immediately following the first game, the Little City All Stars skate against the Music City All Stars.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 25, 7:30 AM: 5K; 9 AM: KIDS' HALF MILE FUN RUN
LOCATION: LP FIELD REGISTRATION: $75 TITANS 5K; $20 KIDS' FUN RUN
The Titans Back to Football 5k welcomes participants of all abilities to help celebrate the kickoff the 2012 Titans' season. Put on your jersey, lace up your running shoes, and register to show your team spirit. Each race participant receives a free ticket to an upcoming Tennessee Titans home game (select from three options). Participants also receive a shirt. Start and finish line at LP Field. Major roads closed include Union Street, Deaderick Street, 3rd Avenue N and S, 6th Avenue N., Korean Veterans Boulevard and bridge, and the Woodland Street bridge.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 25, 1 PM - 4 PM
LOCATION: TENNESSEE STATE MUSEUM FREE
Find out more about how to carve a wooden chair, sew a quilt, weave a bracelet, and how to make something creative out of a clothes pin. The museum is hosting a free afternoon of art and crafts. TACA artists will provide demonstrations along with quilters from Craftville, Inc. Girl Scouts and museum staff will be on hand to assist children with art and craft activities.
Meet the best local wedding professionals face-to-face and find the ones who share your vision for your special day! Many vendors will offer samples, coupons, and budget-saving discounts. Plus, bridal fashion shows, give-aways, and live entertainment.
TUESDAY, AUGUST 28, 11 AM - 2 PM
LOCATION: BANK OF AMERICA PLAZA FREE TO ATTEND
This weekly farmers' market held in Bank of America Plaza (located between the Bank of America building and the Doubletree Hotel) features locally grown produce, pastured eggs, hand-crafted cheeses, baked goods, homemade granola, salsa, grass-fed meat, and more. Farm fresh produce that will be available on Tuesday, August 28 includes pears, potatoes, fall squash, apples, and more. This event is organized by Good Food for Good People and is part of their Edible Community Project.
Sign up to perform your best "radio style single." The winner of this competition will have their song on an upcoming SESAC download album and a chance for their song to be featured on popular TV shows. This showcase will feature at least four artists and the public is invited to attend. Click here to submit your single for consideration.

The library's hit music series is back for another season! Bring a lunch to the library courtyard and enjoy free music by top acts in many genres every Tuesday through October 9. The Gypsy Hombres will perform Gypsy Jazz and Swing music.

LOCATION: UNION STATION HOTEL $25 IN ADVANCE, $30 AT THE DOOR
Nashville Lifestyles celebrates the seventh annual Bartender Bash. Local bartenders will compete for best Belvedere Red martini and most creative cocktail. Admission includes one complimentary Belvedere Red cocktail, samples of each bartender's cocktail, hors d'oeuvres from Prime 108, and live music. A panel of judges will make the final decisions, but event attendees will vote for the People's Choice Award.

Road Closures for Titans Game on Thursday and Titans 5K on Saturday
Road closures begin at 4 pm Thursday, August 23 for the Titans' first preseason home game! Downtown employees are encouraged to seek alternate routes for their afternoon commute. Use the online map and check out the full list of closures. The Titans Back to Football 5K is scheduled for Saturday, August 25. Race begins at 7:30 am. Closures include the streets on this course map. Also, if you are a Titans' season ticket holder, check out this affordable parking package for all of the home games.
