New restaurant: J. Gumbo's!
319 Peabody. 615-259-7900. A second downtown location for J. Gumbo's! This restaurant is located in Peabody Corner Marketplace. Menu items include red beans & rice, gumbo, Bourbon Street chicken, Crawfish Etouffee, and more. Hours are Mon - Fri, 10:30 am - 7 pm and Sat, 11 am - 3 pm.
 

Events This Week

Full Moon Festival

THURSDAY, AUGUST 30, 4 PM - 2 AM
LOCATION: BOOTLEGGERS INN FREE

Free outdoor live bluegrass and country music at the corner of 2nd & Broadway on the night of the full moon each month! Plus, moonshine, cold beer, spirits, and hot food for sale. Performances by Matt McAttee & The Eventuals, Paul Krammer & The Grassaholics, Michael Scott, and many more! The festival will be held in the surface parking lot adjacent to Bootleggers. Full Moon Festivals will also be held on September 27 and October 31.


New Orleans Saints vs. Tennessee Titans

THURSDAY, AUGUST 30, 6 PM
LOCATION: LP FIELD $35+

The New Orleans Saints match up against the Titans on Thursday evening. NOTE: Road closures begin at 3 pm Thursday, August 30 for the Titans' second preseason home game. Downtown employees are encouraged to seek alternate routes for their afternoon commute. Use this online map and check out the full list of closures. Also, if you are a Titans' season ticket holder, check out this affordable parking package for all of the home games.
 

Corks & Canvas

THURSDAY, AUGUST 30, 6 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE CITY CLUB $35

Paint a personal masterpiece with the guidance of an instructor. Also, enjoy two glasses of wine during this painting class. Take your masterpiece home with you at the end of the night. RSVP: 615-620-1329.

Hot Nights at the Hall: Love And Theft

FRIDAY, AUGUST 31, 6 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME AND MUSEUM MUSEUM MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED

Love and Theft perform at the final Museum members-only concert of Hot Nights at the Hall. In addition to enjoying free Museum admission for the entire year, discounts, and more, CMHOF members receive exclusive access to all three Hot Nights shows. Enjoy private access to the Museum, light hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar, and an autograph signing with Love and Theft. Memberships may be purchased at this event and begin at $30.


Frist Friday featuring The Dynamites

FRIDAY, AUGUST 31, 6 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS $10

This year's final concert of the Frist's popular summer concert series. The Dynamites featuring Charles Walker will perform in the courtyard. Light appetizers are provided and there is a cash bar. No admission charge for members, and non-members pay $10. Admission includes entrance to current exhibits.

 

First Saturday Art Crawl

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 1, 6 PM - 9 PM

Art galleries throughout downtown host receptions and art openings every month. Most galleries serve free wine and other refreshments. Open especially for the crawl are Karma Boutique and St. Mary's Church. Karma (302 Church Street) will offer 30 percent off clothing, free drinks and munchies. The store will be open until 10 pm and will feature artwork by Ashley Mintz. Located just one block north of the galleries on 5th Avenue, St. Mary's Catholic Church will be open from 6 pm to 9 pm. Artwork on display by John Knox, plus live music and refreshments.


Concerts in the Courtyard: Radio Daze

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 11:45 AM - 1 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY FREE

The library's hit music series continues. Bring a lunch to the library courtyard and enjoy free music by top acts in many genres every Tuesday through October 9. Radio Daze will perform Big Band and Dance classics.
