New restaurant: Rodizio Grill!
166 2nd Avenue N. 615-730-8358. Lunch and dinner options with unlimited appetizers, salads, and rotisserie grilled meats. Plus, valet parking available. Hours are Mon - Thurs, 11 am - 9:30 pm; Fri - Sat, 11 am - 10:30 pm; and Sun, 11 am - 9:30 pm.
 

New restaurant and market: M. Market!
Cummins Station. 209 10th Avenue S. #213. 615-678-1591. Breakfast, lunch, custom cuts of meat, artisan cheeses, takeout, coffee bar, smoothies and milk shakes. Hours are Mon - Fri, 7 am - 6 pm and Sat, 10 am - 3 pm.
 

New restaurant: Bibap Fusion Rice!
235 5th Avenue N. 615-732-1034. This new restaurant on 5th Avenue serves a variety of Asian dishes including Korean, Japanese and Chinese cuisines. Hours are Mon - Sun, 10 am - 10 pm.

Nashville B-cycle Launch

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 13, NOON - 1 PM
LOCATION: PUBLIC SQUARE FREE

Nashville B-cycle, Nashville's newest bike-share system with 190 bikes at 20 kiosks, goes live tomorrow. A short program with remarks by Mayor Karl Dean, Dr. Bill Paul (Metro Health Department), and Tom Turner (Nashville Downtown Partnership) at noon. After the program, purchase an annual membership and receive a special discounted rate and a free t-shirt (for the first 100 people to sign up). Demo bike rides, kiosk demonstrations, swag, and more. Local food truck Yayo's O.M.G (Original Mexican Gourmet) will be on site selling their Mexican fare from 11 am - 1 pm. Click here for rate information and locations of the kiosk stations.
 

A Nashville Symphony Christmas

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 13, 7 PM
LOCATION: SCHERMERHORN SYMPHONY CENTER $24 - $109
Celebrate with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra and Chorus as they welcome the holiday season! This concert will feature favorite Christmas songs. Bring the whole family and deck the halls with festive cheer.

 

Mark Cabus: A Christmas Carol

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 13 - FRIDAY, DECEMBER 14, 7:30 PM
LOCATION: CHRIST CHURCH CATHEDRAL ADULTS $15; STUDENTS $5

In a remarkable one-man show, Mark Cabus brings to life all 34 characters in Charles Dickens' classic, A Christmas Carol. Performances will be held on Thursday and Friday, December 13 and 14. This special holiday event is part of Christ Church Cathedral's Sacred Space for the City Arts Series.


Jammin' at Hippie Jack's

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 14, DOORS AT 7 PM; CONCERT AT 7:30 PM
LOCATION: TENNESSEE STATE MUSEUM FREE

Jammin’ at Hippie Jack’s Live at the Tennessee State Museum! is back for its fifth season. The public is invited to attend this free, musical showcase and TV taping on Friday evening, featuring Grammy Award-winning songwriter Don Henry and Stacey Earle & Mark Stuart. The live concerts are aired as taped broadcasts from the museum's Buffalo Bill Stage, providing viewers with an opportunity to explore and understand the cultural connections between Americana music and its historical roots. Doors open at 7 pm and the performance begins at 7:30 pm.


Photos with Santa at Two Old Hippies

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 15, NOON - 2 PM
LOCATION: TWO OLD HIPPIES FREE

Santa will visit Two Old Hippies during the first three Saturdays in December (December 1, 8, and 15) from noon to 2 pm. Santa will give treats to every child. Bring your own camera if you want your child's picture with Santa.


Holiday Concert: Kyle Hamlett

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 15, 1:30 PM
LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS FREE

Kyle Hamlett is a singer/songwriter and finger-style instrumentalist from Nashville. For over 10 years he has fronted chamber folk ensemble, Lylas. For his Frist Center performance, Hamlett will perform his unique, haunting versions of both familiar and lesser known holiday pieces on the banjo and guitar. He will be joined by Luke Schneider (also of Lylas) on pedal steel and theremin.


Photos with Santa at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 15, 11 AM - 2 PM
LOCATION: COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME AND MUSEUM FREE

Children are invited to visit with Santa and receive one complimentary photo, courtesy of Generation Domination. Timed passes are available in 15-minute increments to help plan your day at the Hall! Pass pick-up begins at 9 am. that morning. Museum members may reserve their passes in advance.


Annual Festival of Lessons and Carols

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 16, 11 AM
LOCATION: DOWNTOWN PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH FREE

A journey in words and music from the creation through the prophecies pointing to Christ's coming, His birth, and the promise of Salvation. Music by Alan Smith, Harold Darke, Mary Gilbert, and Maxcine Posegate, plus traditional favorite carols.

 

Christmas Caroling

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 16, 5 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: ST. MARY'S CATHOLIC CHURCH FREE

Want to Christmas carol around downtown? Meet at St. Mary's for a short rehearsal and potluck appetizers and then go caroling! Afterwards, the group will return to the church for hot chocolate and desserts and a tour of historic St. Mary's Church for anybody who is interested. Bring an appetizer or dessert to share and dress for the weather. Jingle bells are welcome. Sheet music will be provided. Meet at the Charlotte Avenue entrance of the church.

 

Daryle Singletary

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 19, 8:30 PM
LOCATION: SILVER DOLLAR SALOON $15

Daryle Singletary earned his reputation for country authenticity with hits including "I Let Her Lie," "Too Much Fun," and "The Note." His new album, Rockin’ In The Country, includes country songs "Love You With The Lights On" and "That’s Why God Made Me." He will perform at 8:30 pm at Silver Dollar.
