News & Information

Road closures are associated with three major events this week: the Music City Bowl's Battle of the Bands, Music City New Year's Eve Bash on Broadway, and the Resolution Run. See events below for specific road closure info.
 

Events This Week

Public Skate

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 28, 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM
LOCATION: BRIDGESTONE ARENA $10

Join the Nashville Predators for a public skate with Preds mascot, Gnash, and the Ice Girls. Registration is $10 per skater and a portion of the proceeds benefit the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. Free skate rental will be provided for all in attendance. Space is limited; advanced registration is recommended. Also, an Adult Open Hockey session that night from 7 pm - 8:30 pm for $25 per skater. Open to the first 26 skaters and four goalies (ages 18 and over). Participants must supply their own equipment. Advanced registration is encouraged.
 

Irish Fiddle Demonstration: David Coe and Josh Culley

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 30, 1 PM
LOCATION: COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME AND MUSEUM INCLUDED WITH MUSEUM ADMISSION OR MEMBERSHIP

David Coe plays fiddle for Michael Martin Murphey, Nashville-based Irish band the Rogues, and the contradance band Footloose. Josh Culley plays Irish bouzouki, guitar, flute, tin whistle, bodhran (Irish drum), and several other instruments. He performs with Irish trio Nosey Flynn. Limited seating available. Museum admission or Museum membership required for program admittance.
 

Battle of the Bands

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 30, 5 PM - 7 PM
LOCATION: THE DISTRICT FREE

Gather at the corner of 2nd Avenue and Broadway to watch the marching bands from North Carolina State and Vanderbilt University perform and "battle" against each other. Prior to the event, Diamond Rio will perform a free concert. NOTE: Road closures associated with this event! On Sunday, December 30 the following roads will be closed from 3 pm - 7 pm: 2nd Avenue (from Commerce Street to Demonbreun Street); 1st Avenue (from Church Street to Demonbreun Street); and Broadway (from 1st Avenue to 3rd Avenue).
 

Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl

MONDAY, DECEMBER 31, 11 AM
LOCATION: LP FIELD $26 - $158

Now in its 15th year, the 2012 Bowl matches teams from the Southeastern Conference (SEC) and the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). This year's game is between Vanderbilt University and North Carolina State University. This is the second time Vanderbilt has played in the Music City Bowl, and they are making back-to-back postseason appearances for the first time in program history! The Oak Ridge Boys will perform the national anthem. Both universities' marching bands will provide the halftime entertainment. Tickets will be available to purchase on game day at the gate.

 

Music City New Year's Eve Bash on Broadway

MONDAY, DECEMBER 31, 7 PM - 12:30 AM
LOCATION: THE DISTRICT FREE

Nashville's official New Year's Eve party features a free block party and concert on Broadway between 1st and 4th avenues. At midnight, a 15-foot-tall Music Note will drop from a 115-foot structure and be capped off with a great fireworks show and confetti cannons! The Fray will headline the concert. Additional performances by Sixpence None the Richer, Love and Theft, Striking Matches, and ABC's Nashville's Lennon and Maisy Stella.

NOTE: Road closures associated with this event include 1st Avenue (from Demonbreun to Union Street); Broadway (from 1st Avenue to 8th Avenue); 2nd Avenue (from Demonbreun to Commerce Street); Commerce Street (from 2nd Avenue to 3rd Avenue); 3rd Avenue (from Demonbreun to Commerce Street); 4th Avenue (from Demonbreun to Commerce Street); 5th Avenue (from Demonbreun to Commerce Street); 6th Avenue (from Demonbreun to Broadway); 7th Avenue (from Demonbreun to Commerce Street); Bank Street (from 1st Avenue to 2nd Avenue); Church Street from (1st Avenue to 2nd Avenue); and the Gay Street Connector. Closures will be in place from as early as 6 am on December 28 until as late as 5 pm on January 2. Note: the Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge will be closed at 11 pm and re-open immediately after the fireworks.

 

New Year, New Friends

MONDAY, DECEMBER 31, 8 PM - 2 AM
LOCATION: BAR LOUIE $75

It's almost a new year, and it's time to make new friends. Reserve your tickets and plan to spend your last night in 2012 with Bar Louie. Enjoy a DJ, dancing, unlimited drink tickets from 9 pm to midnight, midnight balloon drop and champagne toast. Upgrades available for VIP booths and VIP table seating. New Year's Eve with Chris Weaver

MONDAY, DECEMBER 31, 5 PM, 7 PM AND 9:30 PM
LOCATION: SAMBUCA $39 - $100

Four-course dinner, dancing and live music by the Chris Weaver Band. Three options for seating times: 5 pm,* 7 pm and 9:30 pm. *Three-course meal for 5 pm seating.


Mike Bubs XXL New Years Eve Party

MONDAY, DECEMBER 31, 9 PM
LOCATION: STATION INN $25

Performances by Michael Cleveland, Charlie Cushman, Jimmy Stewart, Dan Tyminski, Billy Thomas, and Jeff White.


Ring in the New Year with Style

MONDAY, DECEMBER 31, SEATINGS OFFERED BETWEEN 6 PM AND 11 PM
LOCATION: UNION STATION HOTEL $75

Ring in the New Year with a five-course dinner and champagne toast. Optional wine pairing available to compliment the dinner courses. Reservations recommended: 615-620-5665.


New Year's Eve at Puckett's

MONDAY, DECEMBER 31, 9 PM
LOCATION: PUCKETT'S GRO. & RESTAURANT $60

Ring in the new year at Puckett's with dinner and a show. Live music by the Tennessee Mafia Jug Band at 10 pm, dinner starts at 9 pm. Plus, a special dinner menu and a choice of a champagne toast or a shot of moonshine. Free valet parking. Reservations recommended: 615-770-2772.


2nd Annual Young Executives New Year's Eve Speakeasy

MONDAY, DECEMBER 31, 8 PM - MIDNIGHT
LOCATION: NASHVILLE CITY CLUB $75 - $100

Enjoy live music and an open bar at this party with a roaring 20's theme. Tickets are $75 for the first 150 people and $100 for the remaining 150 people. Purchase tickets by calling 615-620-1329.


New Year's Eve at Flyte

MONDAY, DECEMBER 31
LOCATION: FLYTE WORLD DINING AND WINE $75 - $85

Five-course, prix fixe menu with amuse bouche and mignardises. Reservations before 7 pm are $75 and reservations after 7 pm are $85. Optional wine pairings are available. Plus, live jazz from 8 pm to 12:30 am and party favors and complimentary sparking wine for everyone who is there at midnight.


New Year's Eve Party at Flying Saucer

MONDAY, DECEMBER 31
LOCATION: FLYING SAUCER DRAUGHT EMPORIUM $12 FOR THE PUBLIC AND $6 FOR UFO MEMBERS

Ring in the New Year with good beer and good people! Attendees receive fun party favors and a champagne toast at midnight. Theo Cass takes the stage at 9 pm.


New Year's Eve Party

LOCATION: SILVER DOLLAR SALOON $125

Buffet dinner, two complimentary cocktails, party favors, live music and a DJ, large screen TV to view the Guitar Drop, balloon drop and a complimentary champagne toast at midnight.


New Year's Eve Fondue-lutions

MONDAY, DECEMBER 31
LOCATION: THE MELTING POT $80

Start the new year with a four-course celebration! Tickets include a framed photo (one per couple) of your fondue celebration, champagne toast, and a gift bag. Also, receive a $25 dip certificate per person to put towards your next dinner in 2013. Reservations required.


New Year's Eve VIP Bash

MONDAY, DECEMBER 31, 7 PM - 12:30 AM
LOCATION: HARD ROCK CAFE $50 - $150

Three party options to choose from at the Hard Rock to ring in the new year! VIP Level: $150 per person includes heavy hors d'oeuvres, drink tickets, champagne toast at midnight, party favor and access to the Ledge to view the Bash on Broadway concert featuring The Fray. Plus, Brother Trouble will take the stage at 12:30 am for an after party concert. All Star Level: $125 per person includes dinner, drink tickets, party favor and access to the cafe's parking lot to view the Bash on Broadway. Club Level: $50 per person includes drink tickets, and access to the cafe's parking lot to view the Bash on Broadway, Guitar Drop, and the finale fireworks show. Nashville New Year's Resolution Run

TUESDAY, JANUARY 1, 9 AM - NOON
LOCATION: HILTON PARK REGISTRATION: $35 - $40

After counting down the last few minutes of 2012, start your New Year with the Nashville Resolution Run. Celebrate your 5K finish with prizes, festivities and a complimentary Michelob Ultra. The 5K course starts and finishes in front of the Country Music Hall of Fame. NOTE: Road closures associated with this event on Tuesday, January 1! The race course will be closed from 8:45 am to 10 am. Demonbreun (from 4th to 5th Avenue) will be closed from 5 am to 1 pm.
