News & Information

New restaurant and retailer: Kocktails & Kouture!
316 11th Avenue South. 615-401-9045. This new business located at Velocity in The Gulch is a restaurant, bar, and a boutique. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner and outdoor dining is available. Happy hour specials include half priced bottles of wine on Sunday from open until close. Plus, the shop sells women's clothing and accessories. Hours of operation are Tuesday through Thursday, 11 am - 11 pm; Friday through Saturday, 11 am - midnight; and Sunday, 11 am - 10 pm.
 

New restaurant and bar: Pour House Nashville!
730 8th Avenue South. 615-736-5727. This new restaurant features live music almost every night of the week. Plus, outdoor seating and a menu featuring traditional bar food items and other fare. Hours of operation are Monday through Saturday, 11 am - 1 am.

2013 Nashville Boat & Sportshow

THURSDAY, JANUARY 10 - SUNDAY, JANUARY 13, SHOW TIMES VARY BY DATE
LOCATION: NASHVILLE CONVENTION CENTER $9; AGES 15 AND UNDER: FREE

The four-day event showcases hundreds of the latest boats from the region’s top dealers, a wide selection of marine accessories and electronics, and fun activities for the whole family. For the first time, show goers can get on the water and experience the fun of kayaking and the latest fitness trend, Stand Up Paddling (SUP), at the new Paddle Sports Demo and Try-It Pool. Plus, seminars by national fishing and boating experts.

 

Mozart & Strauss

THURSDAY, JANUARY 10 - SATURDAY, JANUARY 12, 7 PM ON THURSDAY; 8 PM ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY
LOCATION: SCHERMERHORN SYMPHONY CENTER $28 - $115
Two tone poems by Richard Strauss bookend this concert, beginning with the wild rush of violins opening the passionate Don Juan. This tale of the legendary lover is followed by Polish composer Karol Szymanowski’s rarely performed Violin Concerto, featuring the musicianship of soloist Jennifer Koh. A late masterpiece, Mozart’s Symphony No. 39 practically erupts with the composer’s virtuosity, and the evening closes on a playful note with Strauss’ musical tale of The Merry Prankster.

 

5th Annual Magnet Madness

FRIDAY, JANUARY 11, 6 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM $6

Cheer on local high school students from Hume-Fogg and MLK. Basketball teams from both schools will compete. Girls' game at 6 pm and the boys' game at approximately 7:30 pm. Tickets available at the door only.


Shatner's World

SATURDAY, JANUARY 12, 8 PM
LOCATION: TPAC - TENNESSEE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER $25 - $100

Go where no man has gone before. Literally. Television and movie superstar William Shatner will take audiences on a voyage through his life and career, from Shakespearean stage actor, to internationally known icon and raconteur. Join him as he invites audience members into Shatner's World. Enjoy William Shatner with his signature storytelling style, video clips, and an inimitable musical style.
