Picnic in the Park

THURSDAY, MAY 2, NOON - 1 PM
LOCATION: CHURCH STREET PARK

Head to Church Street Park on your lunch break and enjoy a picnic in the park! The Library's Wishing Chair Productions will present a puppet musical revue for all ages. And local food trucks Jonbalaya and Moovers and Shakers will be on site. Or, bring your own lunch and enjoy eating outdoors. Tables and chairs will be set up for this event.


2nd Annual Mayor's Field Day

SATURDAY, MAY 4, 9 AM - NOON
LOCATION: LP FIELD FREE

Mayor Karl Dean will host this free, citywide Field Day. This event features an obstacle course and educational fitness fair, as well as field games including a classic sack race, water relay, and more in a relaxed, tournament-style format. Tennessee Titans players, cheerleaders and mascot T-RAC will participate in the day's activities. Advance registration is encouraged but not required.
 

Whole Kid Festival

SATURDAY, MAY 4, 10 AM - 2 PM
LOCATION: BICENTENNIAL MALL FREE

The Whole Kid Festival will celebrate Children's Mental Health Week. The Children's Mental Health Week Coalition and Tennessee Voices for Children invite Middle Tennessee families to enjoy entertainment, fun activities, and information from vendors and agencies.

 

Scout Day with the Titans

SATURDAY, MAY 4, 2 PM - 5:30 PM
LOCATION: LP FIELD FREE; $10; $40

Come out and see what its like to be a Scout at this event hosted by the Middle Tennessee Council of Boy Scouts of America. Enjoy free activities including archery, tent pitching, bottle rockets, flag folding, outdoor cooking, knot tying, and fire building. Those who sign up to be a Scout ($10) can participate in the sports and fitness drills and activities on the Titans' field, take a tour of the locker room, and watch a movie on the Jumbotron from 2 pm to 5:30 pm. Also, there is an option to camp out on the field and get a free Titans' game ticket ($40, plus $10 to join). The campout begins at 6 pm.


Quest, Dog. Quest!

SATURDAY, MAY 4, 6:30 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE CHILDREN'S THEATRE $50 - $75

The Quest will be a dog-gone doozie of an evening. Teams will compete in a clue-driven scavenger hunt across town followed by a Big Dog Party at the theatre with food, drinks, additional points-earning games, music, dancing, a silent auction and the announcement of the winning team. The clues for Quest, Dog. Quest! are based on NCT's production of Go, Dog. Go! Seeing the show may give your team an advantage. Play clothes, costumes or team-themed uniforms are encouraged (and worth extra points) but are not mandatory. The grand prize is a week-long beach vacation rental in Seaside, Florida. It has been 10 years since NCT last hosted this event. Scavenger Hunt from 6:30 pm - 8 pm and Big Dog Party from 7:30 pm - 10:30 pm.


First Saturday Art Crawl

SATURDAY, MAY 4, 6 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: 5TH AVENUE OF THE ARTS FREE

Art galleries throughout downtown host receptions and art openings every month. Most galleries serve free wine and other refreshments. See this month's gallery listing. Additional downtown locations open especially for the crawl include St. Mary's Catholic Church and CoLab. St. Mary's Catholic Church will be open from 6 pm to 9 pm and is located one block north of the galleries on 5th Avenue. Artwork on display by Sketch, plus live music, wine, refreshments, and tours of the historic church. CoLab (across from the Arcade's 4th Avenue entrance) will be open from 6 pm - 9 pm showcasing work by local artists and serving complimentary wine and coffee.

 

Cinco de Mayo

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo on Saturday and Sunday. Featuring the Watermelon 'Rita and Dos XX Lager Draft. 


Great Strides: Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Walk

SUNDAY, MAY 5, 3 PM
LOCATION: BICENTENNIAL MALL

Great Strides raises awareness and funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Expect an action-packed day of fun, music, refreshments and activities to keep the entire team happy. Registration at 2 pm, walk begins at 3 pm.


Mother's Day Brunch

SUNDAY, MAY 12, 10:30 AM - 2 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE CITY CLUB $40 ADULTS; $15 AGES 6-12; FREE 5 & UNDER

Enjoy a bountiful buffet including brunch and lunch items. Plus, a play and activity area for children, and family photographs. Seatings available at 10:30 am and 12:30 pm. Call 615-620-1327 to make a reservation.


Mother's Day Dinner

SUNDAY, MAY 12, 5 PM - 10 PM

National Bike Month: Nashville B-cycle

May is National Bike Month, so give Nashville B-cycle a try! Need to run a quick errand that is too far to walk but too close to drive? Use Nashville B-cycle! 190 bright red bikes are located at 20 automated B-stations within three miles of downtown. 24-hour memberships are $5 and annual memberships are $50. Nashville B-cycle is priced for quick rides. After joining, you can take an unlimited number of rides during your membership period with no additional charge for the first hour of any ride. Usage fees apply for all rides that exceed one hour. Nashville B-cycle: bikes you love and leave!
