Opry Country Classics featuring the Oak Ridge Boys

THURSDAY, MAY 23, 7 PM
LOCATION: RYMAN AUDITORIUM $35 - $57

The final concert of this season for Opry Country Classics. This show features a celebrity host sharing great stories and songs. The spotlight artist for this show are the Oak Ridge Boys.

 

YMCA B-station Launch

THURSDAY, MAY 23, 9 AM - 10 AM
LOCATION: DOWNTOWN YMCA FREE

Nashville B-cycle is launching a 21st B-station. The YMCA of Middle Tennessee is sponsoring this new station. Festivities include a ribbon cutting, brief remarks by Mayor Karl Dean, demo bike rides, and giveaways. Local food truck, Beach Bums Juice Bar, will be on site. Plus, new members who purchase an annual membership at this event will save $10 and get a free B-cycle t-shirt. Use promo code 9622 to ride a B-cycle to this event! Code is valid only Thursday, May 23. Parking will also be available onsite in the YMCA garage (NOTE: access the parking garage from Charlotte Avenue as the intersection of Church Street and YMCA Way will be closed for this event). 

 

The Frog Prince

FRIDAY, MAY 24 - SATURDAY, MAY 25, 10:30 AM AND 11:30 AM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY FREE

A fun musical production by Wishing Chair Productions featuring the Tichenor Marionettes. The Frog Prince tells the story of a lonely frog and a spoiled princess. With the help of a golden ball, the frog teaches the princess the true meaning of friendship.

 

Mardi Gras in May Crawfish Boil

SUNDAY, MAY 26, 4 PM - 10 PM
LOCATION: BOURBON STREET BLUES & BOOGIE BAR

Bourbon Street Blues & Boogie Bar and the Louisiana Seafood Company present a Mardi Gras in May Crawfish Boil. Enjoy hot boiled crawfish from Louisiana Seafood Company ($10: 1 lb including corn and potatoes or $18: 2.5 lbs including corn and potatoes). Beer will be for sale including a few brews from Louisiana. Plus, live music by 3 Bean Soup at 4 pm and Corey Mac at 8 pm.  

 

Audience Opportunity: CMT Hot 20 Countdown

TUESDAY, MAY 28, 8:15 AM - 4 PM
LOCATION: BRIDGESTONE ARENA FREE

Be part of the audience for CMT's new Hot 20 Countdown. Two segments: 8:15 am to noon and 12:30 pm to 4 pm. Sign up to come to either segment or both. Ages 18 and up only. Additional opportunities to be part of the CMT Hot 20 Countdown audience on June 11 and June 25. Same location and times apply.

 

Country to the Core Market

TUESDAY, MAY 28, 11 AM - 2 PM
LOCATION: 315 DEADERICK STREET OFFICE BUILDING PLAZA FREE

The Country to the Core Market returns in 2013 to a new location downtown. This year the weekly market will be held in the plaza in front of the 315 Deaderick Street office building (corner of 4th and Union). The market features locally grown produce, pastured eggs, hand-crafted cheeses, homemade jams, fresh baked bread, homemade granola, grass-fed meat, and more. This event is organized by Good Food for Good People and is part of their Edible Community Project. This weekly farmers' market will continue every Tuesday through October 29.

 

Battle For The Saddle Finals

WEDNESDAY, MAY 29, 6 PM
LOCATION: WILDHORSE SALOON

The final competition in the 2013 Battle for the Saddle. Ricky Young and Mark Chapman compete. The show is hosted by Big D and Bubba.

Food Truck Square

Love the local food truck scene? You are in luck! Food trucks will be parked in Public Square every weekday from 11 am to 2 pm through Wednesday, July 31. Food trucks will vary by day. Click here to see the calendar for May.

Blue Star Museums: The Frist

The Frist Center for the Visual Arts will offer free admission to military personnel and their families this summer in collaboration with the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, and the Department of Defense. This free opportunity will run from Memorial Day through Labor Day 2013. More information can be found on this website.
