625 8th Ave S. 615-915-1851. This new guitar shop buys, sells, trades and appraises guitars. Hours of operation are Mon - Sat, 10:30 am to 6:30 pm and Sun, 1 pm to 5 pm.

Events This Week

Picnic in the Park

THURSDAY, JUNE 27, 11 AM - 1:30 PM
LOCATION: CHURCH STREET PARK

Head to Church Street Park on your lunch break and enjoy a picnic in the park! Live music by The Drumbinos beginning at noon. Plus, food available for purchase from local food trucks, Jonbalaya and Moovers and Shakers. The trucks will be on site from 11 am to 1:30 pm. Or, bring your own lunch and enjoy eating outdoors while listening to great live music. Tables and chairs will be set up for this event.
 

Nashville Dancin': Delta Rae

THURSDAY, JUNE 27, 5 PM - 11 PM
LOCATION: RIVERFRONT PARK FREE

Free concerts return to Riverfront Park this summer! Nashville Dancin' presented by Dollar General brings local and national artists to the stage for this concert series hosted by Storme Warren. Riverfront Park's grassy slopes provide natural stadium seating for all to enjoy the live music. Plus, a variety of local food trucks will be on-site. Gates open at 5 pm and the music begins at 5:40 pm. Free parking available in LP Field's parking Lot R, plus free shuttle service from this surface lot to Riverfront Park. The line-up for Thursday, June 27 includes Delta Rae, The Vespers, Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes, and Gabe Dixon. Note: road closures associated with this event. 1st Avenue from Demonbreun to Union will be closed from 5 pm to 11 pm on Thursday, June 27.

 

WFSK's 40th Anniversary Celebration featuring Euge Groove

FRIDAY, JUNE 28, 7 PM AND 9:30 PM
LOCATION: JAZZ AND JOKES LOUNGE $25 IN ADVANCE; $30 AT THE DOOR

WFSK's 40th anniversary celebration with a performance by contemporary Jazz saxophonist Euge Groove. Groove will perform at 7 pm and 9:30 pm. These shows are a benefit for Fisk University's WFSK 88.1 FM.


Frist Fridays featuring The MaleMen Show Band

FRIDAY, JUNE 28, 6 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS $10

Now in its eleventh year, this popular summer concert series takes place on the last Friday of the month from June to August! Patrons are invited to enjoy an evening of live music, light snacks and beverages as well as the diverse exhibitions on view in the Frist Center's galleries.  A versatile musical ensemble based out of Chattanooga, The MaleMen Show Band features three female vocalists and a seven-member rhythmic horn section. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to enjoy the concert. Frist Fridays take place rain or shine. No admission charge for members, and non-members pay $10. Admission includes entrance to center's current exhibits including Sensuous Steel: Art Deco Automobiles.


Cookout & Dancing

LOCATION: AVENUE 2 BALLROOM FREE

Bring your favorite beverage and a side or dessert to share to this cookout. Burgers and veggie burgers will be provided. Enjoy dance demonstrations by students and dance professionals, social dancing, and a free group lesson - no partner required. Americanarama Festival of Music features performances by Wilco, My Morning Jacket, and Bob Weir. Headlining the concert will be Bob Dylan and His Band. Note: road closures associated with this event! 1st Avenue from Demonbreun to Broadway, Demonbreun from 1st Ave to 2nd Ave, and Molloy Street from 1st Ave to 2nd Ave will be closed from 6 am on Sunday, June 30 to 6 am on Monday, July 1.


Connecticut Youth Choir Performance

SUNDAY, JUNE 30, 10:50 AM - NOON
LOCATION: DOWNTOWN PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH FREE

The Youth Choir from Second Congregational Church, Greenwich, CT, will sing during Sunday service. The choir has performed all over the world including Rome where they sang the 5:30 Mass in St. Peter's Cathedral at the Vatican.

 

4th of July Events Next Week

Let Freedom Sing! Music City July 4th Celebration

THURSDAY, JULY 4, GATES OPEN AT NOON, FIREWORKS SHOW AT 9:45 PM
LOCATION: THE LAWN AT RIVERFRONT FREE

The celebration will be held at The Lawn at Riverfront for the second year! Hailed as one of the best fireworks displays in the nation, this event is one of Music City's best events. Festivities begin at noon with the free Family Fun Zone. Pre-show live music runs from 1 pm - 7 pm featuring Joey DeGraw, Chris Mulkey and Deluxe and more. The official main stage concert begins at 6:45 pm with Striking Matches, Keb' Mo', The Band Perry and the Nashville Symphony Orchestra. The celebration concludes with longest and largest fireworks display in the city's history choreographed to the sounds of the Nashville Symphony playing on the banks of the Cumberland River at approximately 9:45 pm. Click here for the official schedule.

 

Music City July 4th 5K/10K

THURSDAY, JULY 4, 7:30 AM
LOCATION: PUBLIC SQUARE REGISTRATION: $35 IN THE ADVANCE; $40 RACE DAY

All ages and fitness levels will love running past landmarks like the Schermerhorn Symphony Center, Ryman Auditorium, and Country Music Hall of Fame in this event. Every participant will receive a complimentary t-shirt, a collector’s cup and a finisher’s medal when they cross the finish line. The Pour House of July: Rockin' the 4th

THURSDAY, JULY 4, 3 PM - MIDNIGHT
LOCATION: POUR HOUSE NASHVILLE: BURGERS, BOURBON AND BREWS $20 - $40

Join The Pour House Nashville to celebrate the 4th with live music, drink specials, a photobooth, giveaways, and a great view of the fireworks! Live performances include Goodbye June, Opossum Holler, Black Shag, Wings of Apollo, East Side Gamblers, and Jackyl. Free parking. Tickets are available in advance or at the door.

 

4th of July Fireworks Party

THURSDAY, JULY 4, 7:30 PM - 10 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE CITY CLUB $35 ADULTS; $10 CHILDREN 12 AND UNDER

Watch the fireworks away from the crowds and enjoy one of the best views of downtown on the 20th floor of the Nashville City Club. The club has great views that overlook the Cumberland River and LP Field! Tickets include a dinner buffet and one specialty drink ticket. Plus, fun kids' activities, live music, and complimentary parking (first come, first served) in the building's garage.


Road Closures: AGD 5K

The Academy of General Dentistry conference is in town from June 27 to June 30. The AGD 5K is not open to the public on Saturday, June 29, but road closures are associated with it. Please note the following road closures. Demonbreun from 1st Ave to 5th Ave, 1st Ave from Demonbreun to KVB, South 2nd Street from KVB to Russell, Russell from South 2nd Street to Titans Way, Titans Way from Russell to Victory Lane, Victory Lane from Titans Way to South 1st Street, and South 1st Street from Victory Lane to South 2nd Street.
