4th of July Events


Let Freedom Sing! Music City July 4th Celebration

THURSDAY, JULY 4, GATES OPEN AT NOON, FIREWORKS SHOW AT 9:45 PM
LOCATION: THE LAWN AT RIVERFRONT FREE

This celebration will be held at The Lawn at Riverfront for the second year! Hailed as one of the best fireworks displays in the nation, this event is one of Music City's best events. Festivities begin at noon with the free Family Fun Zone. Pre-show live music runs from 1 pm - 5 pm featuring The Willis Clan, Joey DeGraw, and Chris Mulkey & Deluxe. The official main stage concert begins at 7 pm with Striking Matches, Keb' Mo', The Band Perry and the Nashville Symphony Orchestra. The celebration concludes with longest and largest fireworks display in the city's history choreographed to the sounds of the Nashville Symphony playing on the banks of the Cumberland River at approximately 9:45 pm. Click here for the official schedule. Please note: road closures associated with this event. Closures include portions of 1st Avenue, 2nd Avenue, Broadway, Demonbreun, Commerce, Church, Korean Veterans Boulevard and more. Click here for the complete list of closures. All roads will re-open no later than Saturday, July 6 at 6 am. NOTE: The Lawn at Riverfront is located two blocks south of Riverfront Park.

 

Music City July 4th 5K/10K

THURSDAY, JULY 4, 7:30 AM
LOCATION: PUBLIC SQUARE REGISTRATION: $35 IN THE ADVANCE; $40 RACE DAY

All ages and fitness levels will love running past landmarks like the Schermerhorn Symphony Center, Ryman Auditorium, and Country Music Hall of Fame in this event. Every participant will receive a complimentary t-shirt, a collector’s cup and a finisher’s medal when they cross the finish line. Nashville Dancin': Derek St. Holmes Band

THURSDAY, JULY 4, NOON - 6:10 PM
LOCATION: RIVERFRONT PARK FREE

Nashville Dancin' presented by Dollar General brings local and national artists to the stage for this concert series hosted by Storme Warren. Music for this special July 4th show will begin at noon and end at 6:10 pm. The headliner, Derek St. Holmes Band will hit the stage at 5:20 pm. This event will be presented in partnership with the city's Let Freedom Sing! July 4th Celebration. Derek St. Holmes Band, Phoenix Stone, Molly Sue Gonzalez, and The Cultivation will perform in Riverfront Park, in addition to all of the musicians performing at Let Freedom Sing scheduled in The Lawn at Riverfront Park (two blocks south of Riverfront Park). There will be a big screen TV in the park so that people can view the stage at The Lawn while seated in Riverfront Park. Riverfront Park is a great place to watch the fireworks - the show begins at approximately 9:45 pm.


July 4th Patio Party

THURSDAY, JULY 4, 4 PM - 11 PM
LOCATION: THE LISTENING ROOM CAFE $7 FOOD AND DRINK MINIMUM

Enjoy great food and drinks to watch the fireworks celebration from the comfort of The Listening Room Cafe's newly renovated outside patio. One of the best views in town.


Copper Kettle's Fourth of July Celebration

THURSDAY, JULY 4, 6 PM
LOCATION: COPPER KETTLE CAFE & CATERING $75 AGES 12+; $25 AGES 6-12; FREE AGES 5 AND UNDER

Enjoy a bountiful Fourth of July buffet feast, featuring shrimp and grit fritters, buffalo chicken dip, BBQ beef brisket, pepper jack macaroni and cheese, Southern style cole slaw, homemade rolls and cornbread, blueberry and strawberry shortcake and much more. Admission includes the all-you-can-eat buffet and your choice of two beers, Harpoon UFO mimosas, or Hap and Harry's Bloody Mary's.


Ten Out of Tenn and Chris Mulkey and Deluxe

FRIDAY, JULY 5, 6:30 PM
LOCATION: THE LAWN AT RIVERFRONT FREE

This post-4th of July celebration will include performances by Chris Mulkey and Deluxe (6:30 pm - 7:30 pm) and Ten Out of Tenn (8 pm - 9:30 pm). At 9:30 pm a  brief fireworks show will begin.

Art galleries throughout downtown host receptions and art openings every month. Most galleries serve free wine and other refreshments. Additional downtown locations will be open especially for the crawl. Cute & Comfy Shoes (5 Arcade) will offer 20% off purchases that night, plus complimentary wine. CoLab (230 4th Avenue N.) will feature art from five artists, music provided by a DJ, free coffee and wineKarma (302 Church Street) will offer 25 percent off clothing, original poetry readings, and free wine and tamale appetizers from Sisterhood of the Tamale. The store will be open until 10 pm and will feature artwork by Allison Scott. The Viridan's Mezzanine Gallery (415 Church Street) will host an opening reception for "America in Art," an exhibit by AK Llamas.


Food Truck Tuesdays

TUESDAY, JULY 9, 11 AM - 1 PM
LOCATION: FIRST BAPTIST NASHVILLE

Join First Baptist Nashville this summer for Food Truck Tuesdays. A food truck or two will be stationed in the church's driveway between 6th and 7th Avenues. Trucks scheduled for Tuesday, July 9 are The Waffle Boss and The Cupcake Collection. 


Skyline Social

TUESDAY, JULY 9, 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM
LOCATION: ROLLING MILL HILL FREE

The Nashville Civic Design Center hosts this annual party for young urbanists and a kickoff/planning event for Parki(ing) Day 2013. Wine, Yazoo beer and drinks will be provided. Following a brief presentation on the past year of events, the 2nd annual PARK(ing) Day Nashville will be introduced, and metered spaces will begin getting assigned to interested groups and individuals. All are welcome to attend this event to find out what it is to be a part of the YU group and start preparing for PARK(ing) Day Nashville 2013 on Friday, September 20. Raffle prizes will be awarded to 10 lucky groups or individuals.

4th of July Parking Tips

Several parking options for the July 4th festivities this year! LP Field Lots A-F and N will be open beginning at 10 am on Thursday, July 4. Parking spaces are $8/car. RVs should park in Lot N. Tailgating will be allowed in all of the LP Field parking lots that are open. The Metro Courthouse Garage will offer $10 parking. The Music City Center Garage will offer $10 parking after 3 pm on Thursday. Prior to 3 pm the garage's regular rates will apply. The Library Garage will be $5 after 5 pm. Alternative Transportation: Nashville B-cycle

On July 4 take Nashville B-cycle downtown and avoid getting caught in the traffic! The B-stations located closest to the main events are The District (2nd and Commerce), SoBro (3rd Ave & Symphony Place), and Walk of Fame Park (Demonbreun & 5th Ave). NOTE: Riverfront Station and Cumberland Park/Lot R stations are temporarily closed as they fall in the event's footprint and fireworks' fallout zone. Those two stations will re-open on Saturday, July 6. All other stations in the system will be open!

Convention Update

Large groups and events that are downtown July 3 - 17, 2013 include the International Dance Challenge (500, July 7 - 11) and NAMM - International Music Products Association (13,000, July 11 - 13).
