New bar: Hops + Crafts!
319 12th Avenue S. 615-678-8631. This new pub in The Gulch offers a variety of craft beers from local breweries and micro-breweries from around the country. Customers can enjoy a pint of craft beer in the taproom or purchase a growler to take home. Hours of operation are Mon - Sun, 11 am - 11 pm.

400 Broadway. 615-251-3400. The shop features clothing for women and girls, plus lots of accessories: bags, jewelry, belts, perfume and more. Hours of operation are Mon - Thurs, 11 am to 8 pm; Fri - Sat, 11 am to 9 pm; and Sun, noon to 7 pm.

Picnic in the Park

THURSDAY, JULY 11, 11 AM - 1 PM
LOCATION: CHURCH STREET PARK

Head to Church Street Park on your lunch break and enjoy a picnic in the park! Live music by Mary Grace Williams beginning at noon. Plus, food available for purchase from local food trucks, Jonbalaya and Retro Sno. The trucks will be on site from 11 am to 1 pm. Or, bring your own lunch and enjoy eating outdoors while listening to great live music. Tables and chairs will be set up for this event.


Road Trip

FRIDAY, JULY 12, 8 PM - 9:30 PM
LOCATION: THE FILMING STATION $10

Movies are made about them, songs are written about them, "bromances" are ignited by them and families are driven insane by the time honored tradition known as the "road trip." Sprocket Improv teams up with a few quick witted and well-educated souls from Vanderbilt University's Tongue 'n Cheek Improv company to take you on a hilarious ride during this improv show.


Artist's Perspective: Jack Spencer: Beyond the Surface

FRIDAY, JULY 12, 6:30 PM
LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS FREE WITH MUSEUM ADMISSION

In this lecture, artist Jack Spencer will discuss his interest in myth, mystery, and the ephemeral nature of existence beyond the surface. A resident of Nashville whose work has been exhibited and collected internationally, Spencer alters the surfaces of his photographs with techniques suggestive of painting to create images with rich tones and colors.


Nashville Rollergirls vs. Gainesville All Stars

SATURDAY, JULY 13, 5:30 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM ADULTS: $13; KIDS 7-12: $5; 6 AND UNDER FREE

The Bruising Altitude face the Music City Brawl Stars at 5:30 pm. Immediately following the first game, the All Stars from Gainesville skate against the Music City All Stars.


The Glo Run

SATURDAY, JULY 13, START TIME: 8:45 PM
LOCATION: LP FIELD $36 - $38

The Glo Run comes alive with exciting colors and effects, plus music played by DJs along the course. Experience this 5K run/walk with extravagant music and lights, all while sporting a glow-in-the-dark shirt and glowing accessories. Please note: road closures associated with this event. Click here for the route map. Closures begin at 8:45 pm on Saturday, July 13 and end at 11 pm that night.


Tunes, Tales & Treasures: Discover More about the Civil War

SATURDAY, JULY 13, 1 PM - 4 PM
LOCATION: TENNESSEE STATE MUSEUM FREE

Learn more about the home front during the Civil War through this special discovery day at the museum. The event will feature a one-person play about famed abolitionist Harriet Beecher Stowe, Civil War-era music performed by the duo Granville Automatic, a separate performance by The 1861 Project, information about researching Civil War ancestors, and other activities.


Franklin Farriers vs. Nashville Maroons: Vintage Base Ball

SUNDAY, JULY 14, NOON - 3 PM
LOCATION: BICENTENNIAL MALL FREE

After nearly 150 years, a Civil War–era style of baseball is being played again in Tennessee. This match of vintage base ball (it was two words in the 1860's) has been organized by the Tennessee Association of Vintage Base Ball. Players will use the rules, equipment, and costumes of the 1860's–1880's. Lawn chairs, blankets, and picnics are welcomed at this game.

Brazilian Brunch with the San Rafael Trio

Everywhere Fun Fair: Vacation Bible School

First Lutheran Church invites all children to step right up for vacation Bible school at Everywhere Fun Fair: Where God's World Comes Together. Ages 3 to 10 are welcome. The adventures include interactive Bible fun, music, super science, cool crafts, hands-on mission work, global games, and more. Registration is required.
