Events This Week

 

Picnic in the Park

THURSDAY, AUGUST 15, 11 AM - 1:30 PM
LOCATION: CHURCH STREET PARK

Head to Church Street Park on your lunch break and enjoy a picnic in the park! Live music by Emily Earle beginning at noon. Plus, food available for purchase from local food trucks, Crepe A Diem and Moovers and Shakers. The food trucks will be on site from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. Or, bring your own lunch and enjoy eating outdoors while listening to great live music. Shaded tables and chairs will be set up for this event.

 

Live on the Green: Matt Nathanson

THURSDAY, AUGUST 15, 6 PM - 11 PM
LOCATION: PUBLIC SQUARE GENERAL ADMISSION: FREE; VIP: $55

Enjoy live music in Public Square, located in front of the Metro Courthouse. This fifth annual concert series brings local and national artists to the stage. Blankets, folding chairs, strollers, and water bottles are welcome at this free six-week concert series. The line-up for Thursday, August 15 includes The Mowgli's, Erin McCarley, and Matt Nathanson as the headliner. $3 parking available in the Metro Courthouse parking garage located directly below the park. Free bicycle parking. VIP tickets available for $55. Tickets include beer, wine, soft drinks, water, food, and an incredible view of the stage. Please note: road closures associated with this event! 3rd Avenue North between Union Street and James Robertson Parkway will be closed beginning at 1 pm on Thursday, August 15 and will reopen at midnight on Friday, August 16.


SEC Football Kickoff Block Party

THURSDAY, AUGUST 15, 5 PM - 10 PM
LOCATION: TERRAZZO $15

Join the Southeastern Young Alumni Charitable Foundation behind the Terrazzo in The Gulch for Nashville's best celebration of SEC football season. Attendees will enjoy food provided by Corner Pub, one free Sweetwater beer, one free liquor drink and music by a DJ. Additional drink tickets will be available. All proceeds benefit the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. Tickets will be available online through 2 pm on Thursday, August 15. Cash or credit cards will be accepted at the event entrance beginning at 5 pm.

 

Hockey & Heels

THURSDAY, AUGUST 15, 6 PM
LOCATION: BRIDGESTONE ARENA $50 - $75

Join the Nashville Predators for the inaugural Hockey & Heels to get an exclusive inside look about the Preds organization while learning more about hockey. Whether you are new to hockey or a die-hard fan of the sport, this event is a perfect girls' night out. Registration includes a locker room tour, meet-and-greet opportunities, an event t-shirt and gift bag, Plus, a regular season ticket voucher, Hockey 101 session with the broadcast team, on-ice demonstration with Preds alumni, Harlow Salon style tips, drinks, hors d’oeuvres, door prizes and more!


Sensuous Steel Film Series: Hot Rod

FRIDAY, AUGUST 16, 7 PM
LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS FREE WITH MUSEUM ADMISSION

Americans love cars. We look to vintage vehicles with a sense of nostalgia. This film series highlights the glamorous decades of the ’20s and ’30s and the luxury rides that became an emblem of modern society, some of which are included in the exhibition Sensuous Steel: Art Deco Automobiles. Take a trip down memory lane as the Center continues with great American classics and some even classier cars. Hot Rod tells the story of the dynamic relationship between the young and reckless David Langham and his straight-laced father. This film stars James Lydon, Art Bake, Gil Straton, Jr., Gloria Winters, and Myron Healey. Seating is first come, first seated.


Nashville Rollergirls vs. Cincinnati Rollergirls

SATURDAY, AUGUST 17, 5:30 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM ADULTS: $13; KIDS 7-12: $5; 6 AND UNDER: FREE

The Violent Lambs face the Music City Brawl Stars at 5:30 pm. Immediately following the first game, the Black Sheep, from Cincinnati, skate against the Music City All Stars.


Nashville UNDY 5000 5K Run

SATURDAY, AUGUST 17, 8:30 AM - 10:30 AM
LOCATION: WALK OF FAME PARK $30 FOR 5K ($40 ON RACE DAY); $20 FOR 1-MILE FUN RUN ($30 ON RACE DAY)

Grab the kids and grab the dog, but leave your pants at home! Run in your underwear while raising awareness of colon cancer. Registered participants will receive a commemorative pair of Undy 5000 boxers instead of a race day t-shirt. It is a family-friendly event and open to all ages. There is a one-mile fun run in addition to the 5K race. A giant, walk-through inflatable colon will also make an appearance at the event. Please note: road closures associated with this race. Rolling closures will begin as early as 8 am and end as late as 10 am on Saturday, August 17.


Night Market

SATURDAY, AUGUST 17, 5 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE FARMERS' MARKET FREE

For the first time ever, Night Market is on a Saturday night! Enjoy shopping, wine and beer from the cash bar, live music, artisan booths, and more at this monthly event. All market house restaurants and shops will be open. Vendors in the farm sheds will sell local produce, meat, cheese, plants, and more! 


Jazz on the Cumberland

SUNDAY, AUGUST 18, 5:30 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: CUMBERLAND PARK FREE

Enjoy live jazz on the third Sunday of every month through October. Connye Florance will perform on Sunday, August 18. Live music will be performed in the park's amphitheater. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome at this event. Food available for purchase from local food trucks.


Fondue Fairytale: A Princess Party

SUNDAY, AUGUST 18, NOON - 3 PM
LOCATION: THE MELTING POT ADULTS: $29.90; CHILDREN: $18.90

This enchanted princess party will allow guests to see some of their favorite princesses up-close and personal. A group photo of each table will betaken and can be retrieved online. All "Little Dippers" will receive a keepsake. Framed photos $10 additional. Party Belles of Nashville Princesses will be at the restaurant from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm.
 

Tap That: Craft Beer Crawl

SUNDAY, AUGUST 18, 1 PM - 6 PM

Sample some of Nashville's best craft beers at this crawl. Pick your starting location from one of the five participating breweries and then hop on the shuttle to your next brewery destination. After you've stopped at all five, the shuttle will bring you back to your starting location. This is a 21+ event. The five participating breweries include Hops + Crafts, Jackalope Brewing Company, Rock Bottom Brewery, Yazoo Brewing Company and Blackstone Brewing Company.


Grow Local Kitchen Class: Yes You Can!

SUNDAY, AUGUST 18, 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE FARMERS' MARKET $25

Preserve the bounty of Spring and Summer! Learn how to efficiently and safely can at home. Chefs in the Grow Local Kitchen will show attendees how to can tomatoes, apple butter and pickled okra. Enjoy samples and bring home several recipes and preserves.


Nashville Originals' Restaurant Week

MONDAY, AUGUST 19 - SUNDAY, AUGUST 25

A semiannual event sponsored by Nashville Originals, Restaurant Week is a great way to enjoy Nashville's unique local dining establishments. Participating downtown restaurants are 417 Union, Copper Kettle, Flyte World Dining and Wine, Puckett's Gro. & Restaurant, and Watermark. These restaurants will feature special prices and menus throughout the week, and across the mealtimes.
