Employee Appreciation Week!

Do you work downtownEmployee Appreciation Week continues through Friday, September 13! Remaining events include Corporate Tug-of-War, Picnic in the Park and Downtown's Next Superstar. Plus, check out this list of merchants and other downtown businesses that are offering special discounts and freebies during the week.

Picnic in the Park

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 11 AM - 1 PM
LOCATION: 
CHURCH STREET PARK FREE

Head to Church Street Park on your lunch break and enjoy a picnic in the park! Live music by Half Brass. Plus, food available for purchase from Smoke Et Al and Moovers and Shakers. Or, bring your own lunch and enjoy eating outdoors while listening to great live music. Shaded tables and chairs will be set up for this event.

 

Live on the Green: Moon Taxi

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 6 PM - 11 PM
LOCATION: PUBLIC SQUARE GENERAL ADMISSION: FREE; VIP: $55

Enjoy live music in Public Square, located in front of the Metro Courthouse. The last show of this season! Blankets, folding chairs, strollers, and water bottles are welcomed at this free six-week concert series. The line-up for Thursday, September 12 includes, The Weeks, The Wild Feathers and headliners Moon Taxi. $3 parking available in the Metro Courthouse parking garage located directly below the park. Free bicycle parking provided by Walk/Bike Nashville. Or, ride Nashville B-cycle to the concert! Please note: road closures associated with this event! 3rd Avenue North between Union Street and James Robertson Parkway will close at 9 am on Thursday, September 12 and will reopen at midnight. Union Street between 2nd Avenue North and 3rd Avenue North will close around 5 pm on Thursday, September 12 and will reopen at midnight.

 

Jazzin' for Respite

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE CITY CLUB $50

Enjoy live Jazz, wine, hors d'oeuvres, a silent and a live auction. This event benefits the Tennessee Respite Coalition, a nonprofit that assists family caregivers across the state.

 

Grand Opening: Manuel

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 6 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: MANUEL FREE

Enjoy light hors d'oeuvres and drinks, plus drawings for special gifts from Manuel. The evening will feature live music by Stephanie Urbina Jones and Frank Ortega. Dizzy Diaper Dash 5K and Family Festival

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 8 AM - 10:30 AM
LOCATION: LOT R, LP FIELD $10 - $35; FESTIVAL: FREE

Nurses for Newborns is hosting their second annual fundraising event: the Dizzy Diaper Dash 5K. This 5K includes three "dizzying" laps around LP field's perimeter. The family festival includes a bounce slide, carnival games and information booths and begins at 8:30 am. Plus, children's fun races, including a diaper crawl for those 18 months and under. The children's fun mile run begins at 9 am. Pre-registration is required. Those interested in the the 5K or Children's Fun Mile may register by visiting the website.


Living Proof Live Simulcast with Beth Moore

Jazz on the Cumberland

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 5:30 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: CUMBERLAND PARK FREE

Enjoy live jazz on the third Sunday of every month through October. The Laura Vida Band will perform on Sunday, September 15. Live music will be performed in the park's amphitheater. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome at this event. Food available for purchase from local food trucks.


Franklin Farriers vs. Nashville Maroons: Vintage Base Ball

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, NOON - 3 PM
LOCATION: BICENTENNIAL MALL FREE

After nearly 150 years, a Civil War–era style of baseball will once again be played in Tennessee. This match of vintage base ball (it was two words in the 1860's) has been organized by the Tennessee Association of Vintage Base Ball. Players will use the rules, equipment, and costumes of the 1860's–1880's. Lawn chairs, blankets, and picnics are welcomed at this event.


Etch Restaurant's One Year Anniversary Celebration

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 5 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: ETCH $100

Concerts in the Courtyard: The WannaBeatles

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 11:45 AM - 1 PM

The library's hit music series continues! Bring a lunch to the library courtyard and enjoy free music by top acts in many genres every Tuesday through October 8. The WannaBeatles will perform The Beatles' hits on Tuesday, September 17.


City Swab 2013

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 9 AM - 3 PM
LOCATION: FIFTH THIRD CENTER FREE

Delete Blood and Racing to Register will host the first-ever, coast-to-coast bone marrow donor drive! On Wednesday, September 18, major commercial buildings in cities across the U.S. will open their doors to encourage their tenants, guests and the public to register as potential bone marrow donors. Everyone who signs up that day can provide a patient fighting blood cancer, sickle cell anemia or other disease with a second chance at life.

Report graffiti that needs to be removed, public sidewalks that need pressure washing, weeds, trash and other unsightly items!
