News & Information

Downtown Employee Appreciation Week was a success! A big thanks to everyone who participated! Congratulations to ServiceSource for winning the Corporate Tug of War. Downtown's Next Superstar winners were Erica Barr (Downtown's Next Superstar), Michael Aurand (first runner up), and Jose Urmeneta (second runner up). Congrats to all of them! Check out photos from this year's festivities.
 

New retailer - Epiphany Design Studio!
622 8th Avenue South. 615-385-3289. This new shop on 8th Avenue South has antiques, furniture, home decor items, gifts and more for sale. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 10 am to 5 pm and Saturday, 11 am to 4 pm.
 

New restaurant - Cherry Street Eatery and Sweetery!
One Symphony Place. 615-305-8192. This new cafe located inside the Schermerhorn Symphony Center is open for breakfast and lunch during the week and on concert evenings. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 8 am to 2 pm and concert evenings from 5 pm to 9 pm.

Americana Music Festival

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 18 - SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, SHOW TIMES VARY BY DATE

The 14th Annual Americana Music Festival features over 130 live performances on five nights. Check out the nightly showcases at the Station InnMercy LoungeThe RutledgeThe High WattCannery Ballroom, 3rd & Lindsley and Hard Rock Cafe. Thousands of artists, fans and industry professionals from all over the world will gather for this festival honoring great music. A $50 wristband grants access to all of the venues every night of the festival. Must purchase in advance.

 

Picnic in the Park

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 11 AM - 1 PM
LOCATION: CHURCH STREET PARK

Head to Church Street Park on your lunch break and enjoy a picnic in the park! Live music by Emily Earle beginning at noon. Plus, food available for purchase from Jonbalaya. The food truck will be on site from 11 am to 1 pm. Or, bring your own lunch and enjoy eating outdoors while listening to great live music. Shaded tables and chairs will be set up for this event.

 

Park(ing) Day

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 9 AM - 3 PM

Over 30 metered on-street parking spots across downtown will become temporary "park" installations all day on Friday. Check out these spots on foot, Nashville B-cycle or your preferred mode of transportation. The parking spots will feature a wide variety of activities and installations including yoga, corn hole, hula hoops, an urban agriculture installation and more!

 

A Wrinkle in Time: Big Kid Night

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 5:30 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE CHILDREN'S THEATRE $30

Tickets include adult beverages, light food, and a performance with an all-adult audience! All guests must be 21 and up. Happy hour begins at 5:30 pm and the performance of A Wrinkle in Time begins at 6:30 pm.


Music City Eats

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 21 - SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 22
LOCATION: PUBLIC SQUARE $275 2-DAY PASS; $500 ALL-IN PASS

The nation’s top chefs and wine, spirit and beer purveyors will join some of the region’s Epicurean heroes for this two-day celebration. Sample the best of high and low cuisine at the Flavors of Nashville, featuring authentic Southern dishes and fabled Music City favorites from the region’s top restaurants on Saturday. A new batch of eateries will dish up a Revival Brunch on Sunday. Enjoy access to experts at cooking demos and intimate panel discussions. Additional venues for this two-day event include Walk of Fame Park and War Memorial Auditorium. NOTE: Road closures associated with this event include 3rd Avenue North from Union Street to James Robertson Parkway and Deaderick Street from 3rd Avenue to 4th Avenue from Wednesday, September 18 through Friday, September 20 from 9 am to 3 pm each day.


Color Me Rad 5K

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 7 AM
LOCATION: LP FIELD $45

Run in a fun and colorful 5K for a great cause at the Color Me Rad 5K! The color bombs start flying at 7 am with waves of runners getting plastered with paint every five minutes until the race is over. A portion of the proceeds benefit Special Olympics Tennessee. Please note: road closures associated with this event!


Night Market

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 5 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE FARMERS' MARKET FREE

Enjoy shopping, wine and beer from a cash bar, live music, artisan booths and more at this monthly event. All market house restaurants and shops will be open with special offerings. Vendors in the farm sheds will sell local produce, meat, cheese, plants and more! September marks "pepper month," and the event will feature a Pepper Festival presented by Ousley Ouch Salsa.

 

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 2:30 PM
LOCATION: THE PUB NASHVILLE RIBBON CUTTING: FREE; HAPPY HOUR: CASH BAR

The Pub will open to the public with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 2:30 pm and happy hour specials from 3 pm until 7 pm. RSVPs requested.


Concerts in the Courtyard: Craig Duncan and Friends

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 11:45 AM - 1 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY FREE

The library's hit music series continues. Bring a lunch to the library courtyard and enjoy free music by top acts in many genres every Tuesday through October 8. Craig Duncan and Friends will perform traditional Tennessee and authentic bluegrass music on Tuesday, September 24.


Disney's Beauty and the Beast

LOCATION: TPAC - TENNESSEE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER $15 - $65

Based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature film, this classic musical love story is filled with unforgettable characters, lavish sets and costumes, and dazzling production numbers including "Be Our Guest" and the beloved title song. Wine Class: All Roads Lead to France

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 6:30 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: FLYTE WORLD DINING AND WINE $25

Flyte Club wine classes cover the basics of wine in a relaxed, casually elegant environment. Classes are taught by Nashville's most knowledgeable and fun wine geeks. French wines are covered in the Tuesday, September 24 class. Samples of wine and cheese will be served. Register online or call 615-255-6200. Additional classes are offered through Tuesday, October 15.


Local Tap Takeover

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24
LOCATION: HOPS + CRAFTS

All 36 taps at Hops + Crafts' will be dedicated to showing off the flavors of Middle Tennessee breweries. Representatives from each brewery will be present to talk about their respective brews and brewery. Also, drink specials including half price pints, $1 off 32 oz. growlers, and $2 off 64 oz. growlers. This pub is also hosting a Local Pint Night on Wednesday, September 25.


McKendree United Methodist Church Daycare Fall Carnival

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 5 PM - 7 PM
LOCATION: MCKENDREE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH $5 PER CHILD, $10 PER ADULT AND $40 FOR FAMILIES

McKendree United Methodist Church Daycare will host this Fall Carnival to benefit their scholarship and endowment program. Carnival events include a three-legged race, bean bag toss, fishing for prizes, toddler track races and more. There will also be a cake walk and a silent auction. Free parking available in the McKendree Garage.

Half-price Admission at the Frist

The Frist Center for the Visual Arts is offering half-price admission while transitioning the Ingram Gallery and preparing to open the next exhibitions, "30 Americans" and "Ana Maria Tavares: Deviating Uptopias." It's a great time to check out "Jack Spencer: Beyond the Surface" on view through October 13 in the Upper-Level Galleries as well as "Abstractometry" in the Conte Community Arts Gallery. This half-price admission offer runs through October 9.
