New restaurant: Al Taglio!
Music City Center. 201 5th Avenue South. 615-401-1390. Menu items include Roman-style pizza by the slice featuring light, airy crust and specialty toppings, plus soups, salads, sandwiches, craft beers, local spirits and more. Hours of operation are Sunday - Thursday, 11 am - 8:30 pm and Friday - Saturday, 11 am - 11:30 pm.


New coffee shop: Dunkin' Donuts!
Music City Center. 321 5th Avenue South. 615-425-2856. Dunkin' Donuts is now open inside Music City Center, its second location downtown. Hours of operation are Monday - Sunday, 6 am - 6 pm.


Grand Opening Event for Al Taglio and Dunkin' Donuts
In celebration of its latest additions, Music City Center will offer special deals at both Al Taglio and Dunkin' Donuts on Friday, January 17. Visit Dunkin' Donuts from 8 am to 10 am for a free medium hot or iced coffee and Al Taglio from 11 am to 1 pm for free pizza samples. Entrances to both businesses are located on the corner of 5th Avenue South and Korean Veterans Boulevard.

First Anniversary Festival

 

THURSDAY, JANUARY 16 - SATURDAY, JANUARY 18, THURSDAY: 11 AM - 9 PM; FRIDAY AND SATURDAY: 11 AM - 11 PM
LOCATION: SALSA

Salsa, Nashville's first authentic Puerto Rican restaurant, features a farm-to-table inspired menu with fresh local ingredients and deeply rooted Latin flavor. In celebration of its first anniversary, the restaurant is hosting three days of music, dancing and drink specials. Thursday, January 16 features live music by Pablo Garzon with Serenatta and 2-for-1 house wine and Sangria from 6 pm to 8 pm. Friday, January 17 includes entertainment by the Marcela Pinilla Trio and a live DJ with 2-for-1 Sangria from 8 pm to 10 pm and 2-for-1 Don Q Rum all day. Saturday, January 18 is Salsa dancing night with Sangria happy hour all day and 2-for-1 Don Q Rum from 8 pm to 10 pm.

Erika Doss, professor in the Department of American Studies at the University of Notre Dame, will present a variety of Norman Rockwell's pictures of America and consider their popularity in terms of storytelling, style and emotional connection with American audiences.

Wedding 101 Vendor Showcase: Nashville Sweets

Throughout the months of January and February, Wedding 101 is hosting a variety of vendor showcases providing brides-to-be with exclusive access to Nashville’s top, pre-screened wedding industry professionals. Each showcase will highlight a particular area of wedding products or services. Saturday, January 18 will feature Nashville Sweets, a local boutique bakery specializing in handcrafted cake pops, cakes, cupcakes and other sweet treats. Fermented Foods Class with Laura Wilson

Join Grow Local Kitchen chef Laura Wilson in a class about real food culture. Learn how friendly microorganisms preserve and add deep flavor to everyday foods. You'll learn how to make sauerkraut, pickled beets and kimchi and take home starters of each. Register in advance.

 

Hockey with Heroes

 

MONDAY, JANUARY 20, 1 PM - 3 PM
LOCATION: BRIDGESTONE ARENA $100

The Nashville Predators are hosting a skill development clinic for youth hockey players. The event is geared toward recreational, intermediate and advanced hockey players and goaltenders ages 7 to 12. Registration includes 90 minutes of on-ice instruction with Preds alumni Bob Boughner, Blake Geoffrion, Mark Mowers and more, two lower-bowl tickets to an upcoming Preds game and a meet-and-greet opportunity with Preds alumni. Click here for additional information and registration. Accomplished portraitist and illustrator Geralda Shockey brings more than 30 years of experience to her instruction in the basics of drawing. Beginning through advanced students are welcome. Materials and storage space will be provided. Participants should bring lunch.

 

Brewery Night featuring Yazoo

 

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 22, 7 PM
LOCATION: FLYING SAUCER DRAUGHT EMPORIUM

Join the Yazoo Brewing Company for Brewery Night at the Flying Saucer, which takes place each Wednesday. Yazoo is the featured brewery of the evening and will showcase a special Firkin tap as well as its 10-Year White IPA. At this event, buy the beer and keep the glasses.
