New restaurant: City Fire American Oven & Bar!
Icon. 610 12th Avenue South. 615-410-9103. This new restaurant offers a variety of American food including flatbread pizzas, sandwiches, entrées and more. Plus, eclectic cocktails and an extensive wine and beer list. Click here for the complete menu. Hours of operation are Monday - Thursday, 11 am - 11 pm, Friday - Saturday, 11 am - midnight and Sunday, 11 am - 10 pm.

 

Re-opening: Old Spaghetti Factory!
160 2nd Avenue North. 615-254-9010. Old Spaghetti Factory will re-open its doors following a renovation beginning with dinner service on Friday, March 7 from 5 pm - 10:30 pm. Click here for the restaurant's complete hours of operation.

Almond Street will be closed from Peabody Street to Korean Veterans Boulevard until Monday, March 24.

"Sister Act" is Broadway’s feel-good musical comedy smash. Featuring original music by eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken, the story follows Deloris Van Cartier, a wannabe diva whose life takes a surprising turn when she witnesses a crime and the cops hide her in the last place anyone would think to look – a convent. Under the suspicious watch of Mother Superior, Deloris helps her fellow sisters find their voices as she unexpectedly rediscovers her own.

 

Lenten Lecture Series with Victor Judge

 

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 12, 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM
LOCATION: CHRIST CHURCH CATHEDRAL FREE

On Wednesday nights during Lent, Christ Church Cathedral will examine the 21 chapters of William Faulkner's "Light in August" in relation to the 21 chapters of the Gospel according to St. John. The series will consider how Faulkner presents the Passion of Christ in the post-Civil War South. Victor Judge of Vanderbilt University Divinity School will lead the five-part lecture. Optional dinner provided before ($5 for adults; $3 for children). RSVP for the meal.

 

Champions Challenge Tennis Tournament

 

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 12, 7 PM
LOCATION: BRIDGESTONE ARENA $25 - $200

Pat Cash, Ivan Lendl, John McEnroe and Jimmy Connors will reprise their epic "Super Saturday" semifinal matches from the 1984 U.S. Open. The one-night tournament will feature three matches: two one-set semifinal matches followed by a one-set championship match.
