Almond Street will be closed from Peabody Street to Korean Veterans Boulevard until Monday, March 24.

BACHanalia

 

FRIDAY, MARCH 14, 5 PM - 11 PM
LOCATION: CHRIST CHURCH CATHEDRAL FREE

Christ Church Cathedral celebrates the genius and mastery of Johann Sebastian Bach at the eighth annual BACHanalia, a six-hour marathon music festival. Music begins at 5 pm and continues non-stop until 11 pm. Studio musicians, Nashville Symphony musicians, university faculty and students, and church musicians will perform a variety of Bach's masterpieces in traditional and innovative ways. Drop by this free event for a few minutes or a few hours.

 

Lecture: "Dressing Japanese: A Survey of Japonisme's Impact on Fashion"

 

FRIDAY, MARCH 14, 6:30 PM
LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS GALLERY ADMISSION REQUIRED

The lecture traces the profound influences of Japanese art and design on Western fashion beginning in the late 19th century and how contemporary fashion is still impacted by Japan’s unique and inimitable street style. Presented by Patricia Mears, deputy director at New York City's Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology.

 

St. Puppy's Day

This inaugural event seeks to raise awareness and funds for the Nashville Humane Association. The event includes a St. Puppy's Day parade, a pet costume contest, vendors showcasing the latest pet products, a demonstration from Nashville K-9, food vendors, music and more. This annual 5K features an all-new course that takes runners and walkers through downtown Nashville and the surrounding area. The entry fee includes a 5K t-shirt and a voucher for one ticket to an upcoming Preds game. Click here for more information and to purchase tickets in advance. Note: road closures associated with this event. Downtown closures include 5th Avenue South (Broadway to Demonbreun) and Demonbreun (5th Avenue South to 13th Avenue South). "Sound City" Screening & Panel Discussion

LOCATION: MUSICIANS HALL OF FAME & MUSEUM $23.95

"Sound City," a music documentary directed by Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters, follows the history of Sound City Studios in Los Angeles and the legendary artists who recorded there. The film focuses on how to keep the human element alive in recorded music during this era's increasing technology. A panel discussion featuring local recording industry professionals will follow. Tickets also include museum admission.

 

St. Patrick's Day Celebration

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with Tennessee Brew Works' fresh craft beer, an Irish favorite dish of bangers and mash, and live music!

 

St. Patrick's Day Kegs and Eggs 5K/10K

 

SUNDAY, MARCH 16, 2 PM
LOCATION: BAR LOUIE $35 IN ADVANCE; $40 ON RACE DAY

The third annual St. Patrick's Day Kegs and Eggs run/walk features both a 5K and 10K course option. Participants will receive complimentary Michelob Ultra, a collector's cup, t-shirts and more. Plus, a post-race party at Bar Louie featuring food and drink specials as well as live music. The Providence Players, an ensemble of musicians who play the recorder and keyboard, will perform a variety of popular Irish songs in honor of St. Patrick's Day in the library's courtyard gallery.

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with The Pub Nashville's Street Party! The event includes live entertainment and food and drink specials throughout the day. Urban Design Forum: Sulphur Dell and the Urbanism of Bureaucracy

LOCATION: NASHVILLE CIVIC DESIGN CENTER FREE

The new Nashville Sounds stadium, along with structured parking and residential development, is bringing new attention to the Sulphur Dell area. This forum will feature short presentations on the history of the district, the new stadium's design and a conversation about future plans for the area.

Volunteers Needed! 

The 11th Annual Live it Up! Downtown Home Tour is Sunday, April 13 from noon - 6 pm. More than 100 volunteers are needed. Duties include checking tickets and guiding attendees to the units on display. Volunteers will receive one free tour ticket ($10 value) and a t-shirt. Plus, this year volunteers will receive one ticket to the exclusive Home Tour After-Party with food, drinks and fun!
