11th Annual Downtown Home Tour

 

SUNDAY, APRIL 13, NOON - 6 PM

Catch a glimpse of urban life, Nashville style, at the 11th Annual Downtown Home Tour presented by the Nashville Downtown Partnership! Gather home decor ideas, see amazing views, shop for condos and get an idea of what it's like to live downtown. An assortment of private residences, model units and rental/for sale properties will be on display along Church Street as well as in The Gulch and SoBro during the self-guided tour. Click here for general tour information, free parking info and more. When you purchase your ticket, you will receive a tour map and brochure to help you plan your route. Come down early and make a day of it downtown! Several businesses are offering special promotions the day of the home tour. Purchase tickets ($10) in advance or on the day of the tour at the main ticket sale locations at The Arts Company or Encore Condominiums

2014 Nashville Cherry Blossom Festival

 

SATURDAY, APRIL 12, 9 AM - 5 PM
LOCATION: PUBLIC SQUARE FREE

The Nashville Cherry Blossom Festival is a family-friendly celebration of spring and Japanese culture. At 9 am, the festival will begin with the Sakura Walk led by Mayor Karl Dean and the Consul General of Japan in Nashville, Motohiko Kato. Festival highlights include a full day of live Japanese music and dance, martial arts demonstrations, children’s activities, vendors and a variety of Japanese cuisine featuring special menus from some of Nashville’s favorite food trucks. Proceeds benefit the 10-year mission of planting more than 1,000 Japanese cherry trees each spring throughout Nashville.

 

Walk MS

 

SATURDAY, APRIL 12, 10 AM
LOCATION: LP FIELD FREE

Walk MS features both a one-mile and a three-mile course option. Plus, live music, food trucks and kids' activities. The event supports life-changing programs and cutting-edge research for the more than 9,000 people living with multiple sclerosis in the Mid-South region. The event is free for participants, but donations are encouraged. Click here to register in advance. Note: road closures associated with this event. Closures include Interstate Drive (Victory Avenue to Russell Street), Russell Street (Interstate Drive to Titans Way), Titans Way (Russell Street to Victory Avenue), Victory Avenue (Titans Way to Interstate Drive), South 1st Street (Victory Avenue to Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge), Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge, 3rd Avenue South (Symphony Place to Korean Veterans Boulevard) and Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge. Urban Bike Ride

 

SATURDAY, APRIL 12, NOON

Join Team Green and Nashville B-cycle for a beginner-friendly urban bike ride. Bring your own bike or check out a B-cycle from the Five Points B-cycle station. The ride starts and ends at this station. A B-cycle rental is only $5 for 24 hours of unlimited 60-minute trips. Team Green will lead attendees on an easy ride through East Nashville neighborhoods and along Shelby Bottoms Greenway. This event is open to the public and attendees are encouraged to register in advance. Team Green will give away up to two free 24-hour passes for B-cycle riders who reserve their bike before the ride!

 

15th Annual Ragin' Cajun Crawfish Boil

 

SATURDAY, APRIL 12, 4 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: CUMBERLAND PARK $45

The Nashville Junior Chamber's 15th Annual Ragin' Cajun Crawfish Boil will take place in Cumberland Park along the East Bank. This crawfish boil features New Orleans-style food, beer and 3,500 pounds of fresh crawfish. Proceeds benefit Every Girl Counts and Nashville Junior Chamber charities.

 

Free Family Festival Day

 

SUNDAY, APRIL 13, 1 PM - 5:30 PM
LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS FREE

Investigate the rich traditions of Japanese art-making and culture in a daylong celebration of the exhibition "Looking East: Western Artists and the Allure of Japan." Learn how Western artists like Vincent van Gogh and Mary Cassatt borrowed from Japanese culture to push art-making in new directions. Activities include making a “fish” print, designing a kimono and creating a scroll painting.

 

March for Babies

 

SUNDAY, APRIL 13, 2 PM
LOCATION: LP FIELD FREE

Presented by March of Dimes, this two-mile walk will raise funds to support babies' health. Join the three million people across 700 communities in the nation participating in the march. The event is free for participants, but donations are encouraged. Click here to register in advance. Note: road closures associated with this event. Closures include Victory Avenue (South 1st Street to Titans Way), Titans Way (Victory Avenue to Russell Street), Russell Street (Titans Way to South 1st Street), South 1st Street (Russell Street to Woodland Street), Woodland Street (South 1st Street to Union Street), Union Street (1st Avenue North to 2nd Avenue North), 2nd Avenue North (Union Street to Broadway), Broadway (2nd Avenue to 3rd Avenue), 3rd Avenue South (Broadway to Symphony Place), Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge and South 1st Street (Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge to Victory Avenue). Music City Center Tours

Museum Expansion Celebration

 

TUESDAY, APRIL 15, 1:15 PM
LOCATION: COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME AND MUSEUM FREE

Join museum staff, government officials and special guests for the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the museum's 210,000-square-foot expansion. Enjoy musical performances by Vince Gill, Ricky Skaggs, Lee Ann Womack, Buddy Miller and more. Family memberships will be available for purchase at a discounted rate in honor of the opening. Takes place on the corner of 5th Avenue South and Demonbreun.

 

“Waiting for Wishes” Celebrity Waiters Dinner

 

TUESDAY, APRIL 15, 7 PM
LOCATION: THE PALM $500/PERSON

Kevin Carter, former Tennessee Titans player and ESPNU sports analyst, will host this event benefiting The Kevin Carter Foundation and Make-A-Wish of Middle Tennessee. The celebrity event, co-hosted by Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flatts, is an exclusive VIP evening where professional athletes, country music artists and other celebrities take over The Palm as servers. Celebrities include Rick Springfield and ABC "Nashville" stars Charles "Chip" Esten (Deacon Claybourne) and Chris Carmack (Will Lexington). Click here to RSVP. Picnic in the Park

LOCATION: CHURCH STREET PARK FREE

Head to Church Street Park on your lunch break and enjoy a picnic in the park! Live music by Katelyn Pope beginning at 11:30 am. Plus, food available for purchase from Crepe A Diem and Jay's Chicago Hot Dogs from 11 am - 1:30 pm. Or, bring your own lunch and enjoy eating outdoors while listening to great live music. Shaded tables and chairs will be set up for this event.
