Several road closures are planned throughout downtown for the CMA Music Festival. All closures will be lifted by Tuesday, June 10 at 1 am. Click here for a complete road closure list and schedule. Or, see the full schedule at the bottom of this newsletter.

CMA Music Festival

 

THURSDAY, JUNE 5 - SUNDAY, JUNE 8
LOCATION: LP FIELD

Four days of concerts and events! Nightly concerts at LP Field feature the big-name artists, daily concerts at Riverfront Park star well-known and up-and-coming artists, and Fan Fair X at Music City Center offers autograph signings and photos of the artists, shopping, live music and more. Take part in all of the free festivities offered this year including the free concerts at Riverfront Park! Additional free areas include The Buckle Stage along Lower Broadway, Samsung Galaxy Stage in Walk of Fame ParkBud Light Stage in the plaza at Bridgestone Arena and more. Click here for more information and a complete schedule of events.
 

Symphony Under the Stars
 

FRIDAY, JUNE 6, 8 PM
LOCATION: BICENTENNIAL MALL FREE

The Nashville Symphony will perform a free concert at Bicentennial Mall in association with its community concert series, Symphony Under the Stars. Bring your favorite lawn chair, pack a picnic dinner and enjoy an evening of popular classics by Beethoven, Bernstein, Copland, Cole Porter, Tchaikovsky and more.
 

Music Row Yard Sale & Auction
 

SATURDAY, JUNE 7, 8 AM - 2 PM
LOCATION: BRIDGESTONE ARENA FREE

Enjoy the 14th Annual Music Row Yard Sale & Auction at Bridgestone Arena during the CMA Music Festival featuring the best country music items direct from Music Row. Dozens of items will be available for sale and to be auctioned including CDs, meet and greet packages, artist swag and signed memorabilia from some of today’s hottest stars. Proceeds benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
 

Artist's Tour: "Maira Kalman: The Elements of Style"
 

SATURDAY, JUNE 7, NOON
LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS GALLERY ADMISSION REQUIRED

Illustrator Maira Kalman insists that you don't need to be an English major to have fun with the rules of grammar. Join the artist for a discussion of her sources of inspiration for drawings for William Strunk, Jr., and E. B. White’s "The Elements of Style" and her experience working with composer Nico Muhly to create a song cycle inspired by the popular treatise.
 

First Saturday Art Crawl
 

SATURDAY, JUNE 7, 6 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: 5TH AVENUE OF THE ARTS FREE

Art galleries throughout downtown host receptions and art openings every month. Most galleries serve free wine and other refreshments. The performance platform along 5th Avenue will feature live music by Bri & The Dr. and Ukedelics. Due to the CMA Music Festival, shuttles will not circulate the route during this month's Art Crawl. Note: road closure associated with this event. The southbound lane on 5th Avenue North (Church Street to Union Street) will be closed beginning as early as 5 pm and ending as late as 9 pm on Saturday, June 7. Meet Me at the Farmers' Market
 

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 11, 10 AM - 2 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE FARMERS' MARKET FREE

Meet Me at the Farmers' Market presented by AARP is a new interactive series that will take place at Nashville Farmers' Market the second Wednesday of each month from 10 am to 2 pm. Each event will provide a unique, indoor/outdoor experience with shopping and dining options as well as cooking, gardening and group fitness classes. Plus, volunteer opportunities available. This month's lineup includes a yoga session, a cooking demonstration and workshop, a gardening tutorial, and special appearances by Ms. Cheap and Amelia the Clutter Queen. Stop by the AARP table and receive 10% off at participating restaurants.
 

Picnic in the Park
 

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 11, 11 AM - 1:30 PM
LOCATION: CHURCH STREET PARK FREE

Plan ahead and visit Church Street Park on your lunch break to enjoy a picnic in the park! Live entertainment beginning at 11:30 am. Plus, food available for purchase from local food trucks from 11 am to 1:30 pm. Or, bring your own lunch and enjoy eating outdoors while listening to great live music. Shaded tables and chairs will be set up for this event.

Blue Star Museums: The Frist

The Frist Center for the Visual Arts is offering free admission to military personnel and their families this summer in collaboration with the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families and the Department of Defense. This free opportunity runs through Labor Day 2014. More information can be found on this website.
