New restaurant: Ajora Kitchen! 34 Arcade​. 615-891-1898. Downtown's first Ethiopian restaurant. It is open for breakfast and lunch as well as for dinner during the First Saturday Art Crawl. Menu items include tibs, wot, gomen, injera and more. ​Hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 7 am - 3 pm and Saturday, 9 am - 3 pm.

Enjoy a gathering of 15 to 20 local food trucks to celebrate summer! This event takes place every other Thursday through August 21. Trucks will be parked on Deaderick Street between 4th Avenue North and 5th Avenue North.

Music Nights at The Hermitage Hotel

Enjoy Music Nights at The Hermitage Hotel, a twice monthly event held in the hotel's Performing Arts Suite. The series features the musical stylings of Americana band Sheriff Scott and the Deputies. French Wine Love

LOCATION: FROTHY MONKEY $60 PLUS TAX AND TIP

The Frothy Monkey and Omni Beverage to showcase five unique wines from France alongside Chef Chase’s beautifully crafted menu. Dinner will feature products from La Belle Farms, Bear Creek and Boyd Mill Farm. This dinner collaboration will be an informative, fun and delicious event. Find the menu and wine pairings here.
 

Snacks for Snacks

Snacks for Snacks has raised thousands of dollars for after school snacks programs benefiting underserved youth involved with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee. 100% of the evening's proceeds will benefit this cause. Enjoy cocktails, beer, wine and a biscuit bar provided by Kitchen Notes of Omni Hotel Nashville. Plus, there will be a raffle where attendees could win tickets to the 2014 Music City Bowl, Nashville Predators, Nashville Symphony and more. 

 

Nashville Rollergirls vs. Toronto Roller Derby

 

SATURDAY, AUGUST 9, 5:30 PM AND 7:15 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM $15 ADULTS; $7 CHILDREN 7-12; FREE 6 & UNDER

All games are doubleheaders starting at 5:30 pm and 7:15 pm. Ticket price includes both games. This is the final home game of the season.

 

Stewarts Creek Scouts vs. Oak Hill Travellers: Vintage Base Ball

 

SUNDAY, AUGUST 10, NOON
LOCATION: BICENTENNIAL MALL FREE

After nearly 150 years, this Civil War–era style of baseball is played in Tennessee. This match of vintage base ball (it was two words in the 1860's) has been organized by the Tennessee Association of Vintage Base Ball. Players use the rules, equipment, and costumes of the 1860's–1880's. Lawn chairs, blankets, and picnics are welcomed at this event. There will also be a second game played at 2:30 pm.

 

Quick and Dirty Cooking Basics

 

MONDAY, AUGUST 11 - WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 13, 5 PM - 7 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE FARMERS' MARKET SINGLE CLASS: $85; 3-DAY SERIES: $225

The Quick and Dirty Cooking Basics series is a three-day crash course that will give you more confidence behind the stove. Everything from knife skills to simple butchering will be covered. Learn how to hone your cooking skills. Register for one, two or three classes.

 

Courtyard Concerts: J2B2

 

TUESDAY, AUGUST 12, 11:45 PM - 1 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY FREE

The library's hit music series is back for another season! Bring a lunch to the library courtyard and enjoy free music by top acts in many genres every Tuesday through October 7. J2B2: John Jorgenson Bluegrass Band will perform on Tuesday, August 12.

 

Picnic in the Park
 

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 13, 11 AM - 1:30 PM
LOCATION: CHURCH STREET PARK FREE

Head to Church Street Park on your lunch break and enjoy a picnic in the park! Live entertainment by Susie Oravec beginning at 11:30 am. Plus, food available for purchase from Smoke Et Al and Moovers and Shakers from 11 am - 1:30 pm. Or, bring your own lunch and enjoy eating outdoors while listening to great live music. Shaded tables and chairs will be set up for this event.

 

The Gulch Gives Back
 

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 13, 5 PM - 7 PM
LOCATION: THE GULCH $10

Retailers and restaurants in The Gulch have partnered together for a day of savings, promotions, and fun to support Make-A-Wish of Middle Tennessee. By purchasing a $10 ticket, guests will be granted exclusive access to special deals at their favorite Gulch hotspots. Participating restaurants and retailers include Bar Louie, Barre3, Blush, Bond Coffee Company, Cantina LaredoE. Game-Day Express

The Tennessee Titans first pre-season game at LP Field is this Saturday, August 9. Take the Music City Star and make getting to the game even easier! Advance tickets purchased now through September 1 are only $12, a savings of 20% off regular cost.
