Live on the Green: City and Colour

 

THURSDAY, AUGUST 14, 6 PM - 11 PM
LOCATION: PUBLIC SQUARE FREE

The season opener for the sixth annual concert series! This series brings local and national artists to the stage in Public Square, located in front of the Metro Courthouse. Blankets, folding chairs, strollers, and water bottles are welcome at this free six-week concert series. The line up for Thursday, August 14 includes Spanish Gold, The Weeks and City and Colour as the headliner. $5 parking available in the Metro Courthouse Garage, located directly below the park, and at LP Field. Free bicycle parking.​ VIP tickets available for $60 - $80. VIP tickets include beer, wine, soft drinks, water, food and an incredible view of the stage. Please note: road closures associated with this event! 3rd Avenue North between Union Street and James Robertson Parkway will be closed beginning at 1 pm on Thursday, August 14 and will reopen at midnight on Friday, August 15.

 

Interview: Kenny Rogers

 

SATURDAY, AUGUST 16, 2:30 PM
LOCATION: COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME AND MUSEUM MUSEUM ADMISSION REQUIRED

Multi-talented legend Kenny Rogers will participate in a special interview. The expert-led conversation will take place in conjunction with the debut of "Kenny Rogers: Through the Years," a biographical exhibit in the museum's East Gallery opening August 15, 2014. Rogers will recount memories from throughout his history-making life and career during the interview. Archival photographs and video will supplement the storytelling. The new exhibit runs through June 14, 2015.​

 

An Art Deco Affair
 

SATURDAY, AUGUST 16, 6 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR VISUAL ARTS $50 MEMBER TICKETS; $75 NON-MEMBER TICKETS

Celebrate the glamour and luxury of the Jazz Age with cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, live music and a chance to view current exhibitions. Guests are encouraged to dress for the occasion. Flappers and dapper gents welcome! Advance tickets required and can be purchased here. All proceeds support the care and maintenance of the Frist Center's historic Art Deco building.
 

Tap That Craft Beer Crawl

 

SUNDAY, AUGUST 17, 12:45 PM - 6 PM
LOCATION: THE GULCH $30

Sample some of Nashville's best craft beers at this crawl. Your ticket includes beer at each brewery and a shuttle to take you from brewery to brewery. The crawl begins at the corner of Pine and 11th. This is a 21+ event. The five participating breweries include Hops + Crafts, Jackalope Brewing Company, Rock Bottom Brewery, Yazoo Brewing Company and Craft Brewed. Food trucks will be available at Yazoo. 
 

Wessyngton Plantation Film Screening & Tour

 

SUNDAY, AUGUST 17, 2 PM - 4 PM
LOCATION: TENNESSEE STATE MUSEUM FREE

Join the Tennessee State Museum for a special viewing of Nashville Public Television’s documentary “Wessyngton Plantation: A Family’s Road to Freedom.” The program follows the lives of the plantation's families, black and white, from the years of slavery to freedom after the Civil War through artifacts currently on display in the museum’s Wessyngton exhibit. There is no admission charge, but a reservation ticket is required. Seating is limited to 150 chairs and is available on a first-come, first-served basis to those visitors with reservations.

 

Jazz on the Cumberland

 

SUNDAY, AUGUST 17, 5:30 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: CUMBERLAND PARK FREE

Enjoy live jazz on the third Sunday of every month through October. Tyronn Hamilton will perform on Sunday, August 17 in the park's amphitheater. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome at this event. Food available for purchase from local food trucks.

 

Courtyard Concerts: The WannaBeatles

 

TUESDAY, AUGUST 19, 11:45 PM - 1 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY FREE

The library's hit music series continues with concerts in the courtyard! Bring your lunch and enjoy free music by top acts in many genres every Tuesday through October 7. The WannaBeatles perform on Tuesday, August 19.

 

Picnic in the Park

 

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 20, 11 AM - 1:30 PM
LOCATION: CHURCH STREET PARK FREE

Head to Church Street Park on your lunch break and enjoy a picnic in the park! Live entertainment beginning at 11:30 am. Plus, food available for purchase from Music City Pie Company and Gigi's Cupcakes from 11 am - 1:30 pm. Or, bring your own lunch and enjoy eating outdoors while listening to great live music. Shaded tables and chairs will be set up for this event.

 

Regions Bank: Critical Conversations

 

THURSDAY, AUGUST 21, 11:30 AM - 1 PM
LOCATION: REGIONS BANK FREE

Regions Bank is hosting Critical Conversations, a lunch series presented by the Council on Workforce Innovation. During this informative program, Regions experts will educate people about making smart financial decisions. Presentations will include an in-depth analysis of the methods, processes and decision-making skills needed to make intelligent financial choices and receive positive returns. Those wishing to attend should RSVP here by Thursday, August 14. Lunch will be provided along with complimentary parking in the One Nashville Place garage.

 

The Art of Beer

 

FRIDAY, AUGUST 22, 6 PM
LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS $15 MEMBERS; $20 NON-MEMBERS

Learn about classic cartoons and altered states, then listen to representatives from three local breweries—Turtle Anarchy, Jackalope, and Yazoo—talk about their own artistic process in the creation of their beers. Participants must be at least 21 years old with a valid ID to attend. Advance registration required; call 615-744-3355 before Friday, August 15.

If you notice something amiss while walking downtown, please let us know about it! Report graffiti that needs to be removed, public sidewalks that need pressure washing, weeds, trash and other unsightly items!
