Falling in Love with Street Food

 

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 11 AM - 2 PM

Enjoy a gathering of 15 to 20 local food trucks to celebrate fall's upcoming arrival. Several of the trucks will introduce new menu items. The event will take place every other Thursday through November 13. Trucks will be parked on Deaderick Street between 4th Avenue North and 5th Avenue North.

 

Live on the Green: Weekend Festival Finale

 

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 4 - SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, THURSDAY: 6 PM - 11 PM; FRIDAY: 5 PM - 11 PM; SATURDAY: 1:45 PM - 11 PM
LOCATION: PUBLIC SQUARE FREE

Enjoy live music outside in Public Square, located in front of the Metro Courthouse. This year's Live on the Green is capped with a three-day festival finale showcasing thirteen artists throughout the weekend. Headliners include Cage the Elephant on Thursday, September 4, The Wild Feathers on Friday, September 5 and Jake Bugg on Saturday, September 6. Click here for the complete schedule. Blankets, folding chairs, strollers and water bottles are welcome. $5 parking available in the Metro Courthouse parking garage, located directly below the park. NOTE: parking on Saturday is $10 in the courthouse garage due to the Vanderbilt Commodores vs. Ole Miss Rebels game at LP Field. Free bicycle parking with Walk/Bike Nashville. Please note: road closures associated with this event! 3rd Avenue North between Union Street and James Robertson Parkway and Union Street (two lanes of westbound traffic) from 3rd Avenue North to LP Field will experience closures. Roads will be closed beginning at least five hours before the festival begins each day and will reopen at midnight the following day.

 

Home Decorating & Remodeling Show

 

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 5 - SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, FRIDAY: NOON - 9 PM; SATURDAY: 10 AM - 9 PM; SUNDAY: 10 AM - 6 PM
LOCATION: MUSIC CITY CENTER $10

Nashville's largest home show will feature more than 600 exhibition booths showcasing home remodeling and decoration trends, designs and more. This upscale consumer show will highlight new, unique products and offer an array of daily seminars. Plus, many exhibitors will offer discounted prices and sell directly from the floor.

 

8th Annual Cumberland River Dragon Boat Festival

 

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 8 AM - 4 PM
LOCATION: RIVERFRONT PARK FREE FOR SPECTATORS

The Cumberland River Dragon Boat Festival combines the excitement of racing with the beauty and spectacle of Nashville's diverse culture. In Chinese tradition, the dragon is a symbol of health and prosperity, and dragon boat racing inspires health and fitness among participants as well as spectators. The races begin at 8 am and four teams will race approximately every 20 minutes. One team will be crowned the Grand Champion during the closing ceremonies at the Main Festival Tent.

 

Vanderbilt Commodores vs. Ole Miss Rebels

 

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 3:30 PM
LOCATION: LP FIELD $38 - $68

Watch Vanderbilt's Southeastern Conference home opener as they take on the Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday, September 6 at LP Field. This game marks the 89th meeting between the two schools and will be the first time the Commodores and Rebels have played each other off campus since 1966. First Saturday Art Crawl

 

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 6 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: 5TH AVENUE OF THE ARTS FREE

Art galleries throughout downtown host receptions and art openings every month. Most galleries serve free wine and other refreshments. The performance platforms along 5th Avenue will feature live music by Meet the Seavers and Bri & The Dr. See this month's gallery map. Two free shuttles will circulate the route from 6 pm to 10 pm. Note: road closure associated with this event! The southbound lane on 5th Avenue North (Church Street to Union Street) will be closed beginning as early as 5 pm and ending as late as 9 pm on Saturday, September 6. Days of Summer: Canaan Smith

LOCATION: THE BRIDGE LOUNGE FREE

Visit the Bridge Lounge, located inside Renaissance Nashville Hotel, for the final "Days of Summer" event of the season. The night will include food and drink specials as well as a conversation and performance featuring Canaan Smith. The country music singer/songwriter co-wrote the Billboard hit "Runway" and was also a reality television contestant on "The Amazing Race."

The library's hit music series continues. Bring a lunch to the library courtyard and enjoy free music by top acts in many genres every Tuesday through October 7. Singer/songwriters Marshall Chapman, David Olney and RB Morris will team up to perform on Tuesday, September 9.
